9. What’s a belief that you hold with which many people disagree? I know many people agree with me on this, as well as many disagreeing: I think it's inhumane to give primary/elementary school children homework, except perhaps in their final year right before middle school. I'm unsure how I feel about homework, but I agree with you that the youngest elementary school students shouldn't be burdened with it. However, there is wisdom to begin it minimally around 4th grade -- the year before Intermediate School -- to help kids learn to organize their time. Homework started in earnest in 5th grade. I also think that homework helps seal their classroom learning. Sometimes, you think you understand a concept, but once you get home to do it yourself, you realize you didn't learn it like you thought. Homework is how you find this out. When I was in school we didn't get homework until we hit high school, which was in Year 8. We did have spelling words, and in the very early grades, reading. None of that felt burdensome to me, but of course there were probably kids who found it hard. Violet and Eden *can* do their homework, but they protest about having to sit down and get it done.

I will say that I grew up with homework even in elementary school, so I never knew any difference with it. I wasn't thrilled, but I did survive. Though I have to say that from what I see with high schoolers, it's gotten ridiculously heavy.

I'm not someone who cries. I trained myself not to do it when I was a young woman. Crying let people know when they had hurt me, and I was determined not to let them have the satisfaction. I still am not one to cry.
