And, as expected, nothing happened.

Maka heaved a sigh as she stared blankly at her computer screen. Her attempt to contact Shinigami-sama had failed, and while the end result was something she had expected, a small part of her had hoped it would have been possible to reach him. She would never admit it, but it made her nervous, and perhaps a ( Read more... )

I have no clue, but it's been following me around since I explored the 19th floor.

Whoever it is, they sound kind of perverted.

While mentioning bust size was fairly offensive, Maka would hardly call it 'perverted.' Perverted was that philandering father of hers, who would shamelessly hit on other women right in front of his own child, despite saying that he loved her and her mother the most...

I will be so much happier when today is over. :/

You can't be that important that you have a voice explaining everything you do!

It's not like I want it to be there.

She replied, angrily.

So you're not in control of it?

Maka opened up a book and tried to concentrate on the words on the page, rather than the voice that was that was making her increasingly irate.

Of course I'm not in control of it. She snapped. Who'd want to have something like this happen to them?! As the words left her lips, she could think of a couple of people back home who would probably enjoy this condition quite a bit.

It's like having a story read to me~! Too bad it fails.

I'd rather that it wasn't read aloud. The girl stated simply. In her mind, there wasn't any point in replying to the man's side comment, especially since the person making it was in a weird butterfly mask.

That's pretty rich coming from a guy who insulted me first.

Maka, ever blunt and tactless, retorted.

Whereupon she looked up from her novel and glared at the ceiling, as if to bore her eyes into the soul of the voice that was narrating the events of her day.

Which, by the way, she could not.

Are you writing a story?

No. I think it's one of those... surprises I heard someone else mention.

Maka found herself at a loss, trying to explain her current plight. While it was quite annoying, at least she could comfort herself with the fact that it would only last for the day.

Is it an unpleasant surprise?

At least you know it'll be over soon!

While the narration probably wasn't the worst this place had to offer, it certainly wasn't pleasant. However, so as not to spoil the optimistic mood of the conversation, Maka decided to remain polite to the girl, whom she realized she did not have the name of.

Not soon enough.

That-- seems like quite a nuisance, miss. Which room was it that caused this to happen?

Maka's eyebrows furrowed, as she tried to recall the number of the room which had caused her much aggravation this day. After much deliberation, she finally answered,"

Room 1984.

I see. Perhaps that should be taken into account to avoid any other, ah-- "victims" to your plight. Are you alright?

The young scythe tech sighed and assessed herself:"

Physically, I'm fine. Mentally... I've been better.
