Apology

I want to apologize to any of my friends who I may have offended with my last post. One of the people on my friend's list removed me because she was quite offended. (I think mainly it was because she is one of the people who had the gastric bypass surgery and took it a little too personally because she did it first without exercising or anything ( Read more... )

FWIW, my reaction to your post was along the lines of "Yeah! Dat's right!"

I don't think your post was inappropriate at all if it means anything. Then again, I share the same frustrations as you when patients complain about their weight but won't do anything about it. I could talk about this topic forever, so ill spare you by stopping here.

I love you and totally believe in your right to voice you opinions as you chose. I have opinions about your post and was a little offended by it but let it go because I understand your meaning. *hugs*

Just for the record, sometimes people do have legitimate reasons for not being able to excercise. Take me for instance. I have an umbilical hernia that was repaired and immediately recurred because they did not use a mesh to prevent the recurrance. It causes me an extreme amount of pain doing anything. Standing too long, sitting too long, walking... even Wii Fit. I'm on an extremely regimented Dr controled diet and I still lose no weight. It has gotten to the point where the Doctor's themselves are telling me to starve myself. And they won't repair the hernia till I lose the weight... it's a vicious circle.

So yes, sometimes ( not always ) people have legitimate reasons for wanting to go the surgery route first.

Your case is definitely an exception. The person that unfriended me didn't have any health issues though (well except the ones caused by her obesity) and the person that had asked the question that my original post was about only had joint issues.

Are you allowed to swim at all? Not the fast lap swimming but just dog paddling back and forth?

Hogwash seems to be a word I am using a lot lately. lol You didn't offend me and I am large. I don't believe there is such a thing as someone that does not struggle with their weight. The fact that you are not large like I am, means that you have struggled more to stay lean. You have execised your hiney right off, whereas, I have sat on mine and eaten doritos. lol I know that. Anyone that does not know that it's their lifestyle that is making them fat, is a friggin moron.

sorry that you were unfriended for daring to utter an opinion in your journal.

I got sick some years ago and packed on the pounds. It was a rude shock after being 125 for years to wake up at 165 one day. I tried everything but I hated exercise and liked comfort food. Eventually my life got to a point where I didn't need as much comforting and hated being fat (heavier than my then b/f/now husband) more than I hated treadmills.

This last large amount of weight loss I have only one thing to say: Breast feeding *rules* for weight loss!
