I sucked up my pride and joined Facebook yesterday, after years of resisting.

So, my experience so far goes like this:

1. Oh, cool. Look at all these people I wanted to get in contact with! Sweet.
2. Whoa, that's a lot of email.
3. I never knew I was so popular. (Which is quickly followed by:)
   
4. Oh, you were in one class with me in high school and we maybe talked

Too bad the internet is often an amnesiate--makes us forget about the real world outside. Oddly, there is a richness here...think of all the people you'd never have known at all, or those few you'd like to keep in touch with but couldn't have otherwise.
