1:27 P.M., Gotham City, Wayne Enterprises, Testing Lab 3-A, Floor 15, Room 4-B
Intern David Visdha had been working at Wayne Enterprises for a week when Mr. Wayne and Mr. Fox showed up for a surprise visit. The morning started off like every other morning, scientists walking in with coffee laced grins, interns fetching more coffee for the said scientists and the morning tests starting up slowly. On his fifth coffee run David casually glanced into the lab's director's office and saw Mr. Wayne and Mr. Fox there.
David's first reaction was starstruck, because not everyday did someone see the Bruce Wayne in person. David's second reaction was panic, because no one had mentioned the bosses coming for a visit. Maybe they didn't know, and with this thought within poor David Visdha's head, he scurried back to his mentor with the shocking news and whispered it hurriedly into the man's ear.
David's mentor's first reaction was a lot like David's second, panic. It was then that the lab's director came out with two very important men in tow. The elder man fumbled with the ancient artifact that they were analyzing for the Justice League of America and it slipped loose from his fingers.
The events that came next happened far too fast, like someone had pressed the fast forward button on a movie, but David saw it all in slow motion. First the artifact landed on the carpet and bounced up about an inch off the floor. Next, a blindingly bright white light filled the room and that was when David saw Mr. Wayne's face. It was slack when surprise before turning to pain before relaxing completely and those neon blue eyes shutting. David knew then something went wrong.

That worried him, last time that happen, well actually, that had never happened before. He tried sitting up when a gentle but firm female hand pushed him back down.
“Easy there, Bruce” Zatanna whispered as he fell back onto the bed, “Your magic coils are expanding, rapidly. Now is definitely not time for movement”
It took a bit of effort because his throat felt stuffed with cotton and raked on by Selina's claws, but he manged to croak out, “what..” before his voice failed him. Zatanna avoided her friend's gaze fruitlessly before answering.
“Everyone has what we call magic coils, the place where magic flows through your body. They are almost like veins for magic and the bigger your coils are the more magic you can use,” Zatanna hesitated before continuing, “basically you're able to use magic now”
Bruce blinked slowly at Zatanna, who busied herself with the menial task of fixing her bowtie.
“I'm going back to sleep and hoping this is all a dream” Bruce commented as he closed his eyes and fell asleep.
