While I didn't know him well, his impression on everyone in multiple communities will be long felt. Dealing with loss is one of the few times where it becomes obvious why we invented religion. You don't need religion to believe that one's spirit lives on beyond their death. You just need to use the right definition of "spirit." Not as soul or ghost, but essence. The ideas and patterns that define who one is while alive will live on in the memories of those who survive you, and in that sense the spirit of who you were and what you meant lives on.

Existing in the memories, and thoughts, having had a good impression upon the non-religious, is that not equal/equivlent to being in their prayers?
