Character Information

General
Canon Source: Soul Calibur
Canon Format: Video Game
Character's Name: Amy Sorel
Character's Age: 14
Conditional: N/A

What form will your character's NV take? Its outside shell resembles that of a small antique wooden box with intricate 16th century engravings of French noblewomen on the lid. The interior resembles a laptop with a camera and a built-in microphone for voice and video communication. Instead of a keyboard for text communication, though, it has a touchpad that makes use of a stylus. Amy can write on it as if using pen on paper.

Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities: Nothing all that special, except her skill at fencing. But Amy does feel weak in the day then feels a heavy "thirst" at night. It doesn't say in text that she drinks blood. But Raphael, her foster father, has a move that simply is him drinking blood from his opponent. Thus, it's pretty much implied that Amy, like Raphael, is a sort of vampire.

Conditional: If your character has no superhuman canon abilities, what dormant ability will you give them? Since the thirst for blood and weakness by day makes Amy vulnerable, perhaps a good dormant ability she could have would be a skill useful for any vampire-- supernatural speed. But this would probably only trigger or develop depending on how Amy treats her vampirism. So, perhaps if she drinks more blood, she gets stronger-- the same way that if she starves herself of blood, she gets weaker.

Weapons: Albion, a rapier given to Amy as a present from Raphael.

History/Personality/Plans/etc.
Character History: Amy was a child in 16th century Rouen, France who had lost her parents in a plague that swept Europe. One day, she noticed the corrupt soldiers who ran her village and kept it poor pursuing a man. This man was Raphael Sorel who killed an insane nobleman who his family was taking care of. Out of spite for the corrupt soldiers, Amy hid Raphael in one of the alleys in the poor town. Because of this, Raphael-- who once cared about no one-- felt strongly towards her as if he owed his life to her. Thus, Raphael took Amy under his wing, adopting her as his foster daughter and teaching her how to be an effective fencer.

At that time, though, there was war in France and Raphael was convinced that it was not a good place to live, so he took Amy and fled. But no matter where he took her, Amy couldn't open her heart to the world. Then, Raphael read of the Evil Seed and the cursed sword, Soul Edge. He then realized that if any of the pathetic, warring noblemen were to get their hands on the sword, then the world would become even worse. And thus, he set off on a quest to find it. He was close to finding Soul Edge, but in a battle with its current owner-- the Azure Knight, Nightmare-- he was heavily wounded.

Unfortunately, those wounds inflicted by Soul Edge were cursed and changed Raphael. The curse also spread to Amy who was nursing his wounds. Despite nothing happening to their minds, their bodies and their systems began to warp. Their skin turned pale, their eyes shone red and they began to feel weak in the day and then at night-- a powerful thirst. The residents in that village noticed the change in the pair and suspecting that it was a plague, drove them away.

So Raphael took Amy away to Wallachia in Romania and purchased a castle ruin there. Now, due to Soul Edge's curse, Amy had turned into a being who could not interact with the world. Seeing this, Raphael decided that the world should change for them and went off once more, bidding Amy farewell.

After a while, it became peaceful around the castle ruins where Amy resided. Yet Raphael hadn't returned. She began to wonder if he was still going after the cursed sword and how long it would be until he would find it. Amy locked away her feelings and went off in search of her father.

Point in Canon: As Amy traveled away from Wallachia and towards wherever she believed her father may had gone to-- perhaps to that cursed castle, Ostrheinsburg-- she felt a great force flinging her away from where she stood and up into the sky. Then all was black.

Conditional: N/A

Character Personality: Amy, hardened by the loss of her parents, her childhood in poverty and perhaps even the influence of Raphael, exhibits a ruthless way of thinking. She does not let anyone get in the way of what she wants. She acts with no remorse. Neither does she believe in useless things such as hope, determination, effort and talent. In short, if her opponents fall, they fall. There is nothing else other than that. Despite her ruthlessness and utter disdain for anyone who crosses her, she hides a side that actually cares and feels a little, especially for those who honestly do want to be nice to her. This side she only seems to show towards Raphael. It takes a long time for her to truly warm up to anyone, though.

Other than that, she isn't one to speak at length as shown in her battle speech. She doesn't seem to like dilly-dallying at all.

Conditional: N/A

Character Plans: Basically, as soon as Amy arrives in Siren's Port, she is disoriented, finding herself in a world far from the 16th century world she knew. There are no real plans set for her save for her getting to know this strange future world which, with its darkness and its monsters, doesn't seem too different from her own. But hopefully, she could learn that there are people to trust aside from Raphael. Question then is... who?

Appearance/PB: Her appearance in Soul Calibur IV

Writing Samples

First Person Sample

[Amy looks at the controls on her NV and sets it on video mode after a moment of observation. She hesitates for a moment before speaking.]

Is there anyone out there? I don't think I can last too long here.

[She frowns. It's been a long time since she actually begged for help. Her mouth tightens to a hard line and her eyebrows crease together.]

I don't exactly know what to do here.

Third Person Sample

The first thing Amy felt was a great ache that coursed through her small body. The daytime weakness she felt as well didn't make it any better-- in fact it made it worse, making every single muscle and joint in her body feel like screaming in pain. But Amy wasn't the type to scream. No. Neither was she the type to cry or make any kind of outburst. Instead she forced herself to get off the ground, pushing upwards with an arm-- just enough so she wouldn't look so pathetic.

Then came the nausea. What in God's name was that? She thought. It all had been a blur: how she was plucked up suddenly from her travel in Romania and in a flash found herself here, as if she had gone through a great storm and then slammed down to hard ground. As pathetic as she believed she looked there on the ground, she felt like she had no other choice-- she had to rest until at least the nausea passed. She could bear pain well, yes. There was enough of that in her childhood. And she never really found any reason to scream or cry because of pain. Turning herself over so she was now lying on her back, she now noticed... this world is different.

The signs, that strange... artificial light in a box, and the place-- this... odd structure of metal like a net which towered high above her. Everything was foreign to Amy. But clearly, there were some a signs pointing to some kind of shed. Perhaps she needed to get there.

After a few moments more to let the dizziness pass, Amy sat up slowly, then stood up albeit a bit shakily. She grasped Albion's hilt, thankful that it was there. Her grip on it grew a little tighter as she found herself feeling well enough to move more. You couldn't be too careful or too trusting of anyone here.
