Sad as it seems, stereotypes are part of today's society, especially among teens, and Ateneans are no exception. It all is up to us if we are going to follow these false images of people we haven't even tried to know very well yet. We should learn to avoid seeing one's outfit, hairstyle, or social status as indicators of one's personality and character. It was very insightful of you to mention this, and it's nice to know that we're on the same page. I hope to know you better, Pau! :)

Sidebar: Go BS Psych! Haha I secretly admire BS Psych people, I don't know why, I guess it is because Psych was the first course that I got attracted to, and then after some confused thoughts, difficult choices, and lots of thinking later, I ended up choosing Comtech. And from what I see in our English Block, I think Psych majors are a pretty diverse and interesting group of people. :D

sorry for the late comment.. weanne July 8 2008, 16:36:18 UTC
hi pau! wow. i totally agree with you. these things make me realize that we really shouldn't judge a book by its cover. this had happened to me already, in a lot of instances in fact. and just like you, it happened to me in my block. I thought my blockmate was a "high-maintenance" sort of girl but she actually isn't!

i guess this is the beauty of getting to know people. we should look deeper than what we get from our first sight of people. it's nice that you thought of this topic. though i really wanted to read your insights about what you mentioned in your intro.. the emo stereotype part! (haha). 'coz it's been quite an issue in our high school that emo=gay. what do you think? maybe write about it some time? lol. :)

Pau, yeah. this happened to me in our block. I stereotyped everyone as "high-maintennance" and such. We were all trying to impress each other then, that's why I was so "englishera". haha. But you were too! If we only knew.. but somehow then, I knew we'd get along. :)

P.S. i didn't know that you wrote about me in your lj!(haha) I feel embarassed, but in a good way. thanks.
