How can it be that as the global economy melts down, this community is strangely quiet??

Anyhow, does anyone know what kinds of batering currencies are out there? I heard that the Liberty Dollar has been stopped by the FBI.

If you're buying ammo, you don't really need to buy rice. When the time comes, just use the ammo to take away the rice from those who have been storing it away.

I've seen a stamping machine that you can put your own labels on the ring of the ammunition you're using.

And about the bartering: interactiveleaf September 30 2008, 07:13:25 UTC
Gold. Buy a bag of cheap-as-you-can-get gold rings. And preserve food.

thing is, the purity of the gold in the rings can't be determined, so I would think that for serious bartering, that would not be enough. Now, for small trades that might work.

I actually ordered a book on gold bullion to figure this out.

Ah. I don't know what you mean by "serious."

I live in a semi-rural area. I'll be trading what I have with my neighbors for milk from their goats and eggs for their chickens.

What are you considering "serious" bartering?

well I live in a big big town. So if things get bad enough that I have to barter for food, it will probably be more like me bartering for a farm or a goat myself. Kinda need something of more certain value than a ring.
