However, they are of unknown usefulness in flu prevention, but do protect others from you if you might be infected. They may protect you from airborne stuff, as well as discouraging you from putting your fingers near your nose and mouth.

We here at making_a_plan are so damned organized it hurts--one reason I don't post here more often is that I find myself thinking "well, surely they already know that!"

Other useful things can include chicken boullion. I'm actually taking 3-4 minute cooking egg noodles, chicken boullion cubes & dried carrots, celery, onion & garlic & making proto-soup packages. Dried makes it light to deal with & boiling some water for less than five minutes on the stove is about as much as *I* can handle when I'm falling down sick. Powdered gatoraid wouldn't be a bad thing to stock either, in case of sickness that causes dehydration.
