I like these philosophical discussions :) At least, when someone asks me what this whole Buddhism is about, I'm ready to talk for hours :)

In "Buddhism for Beginners" Thubthen Chodron says that one can speak about 'individual karma' as well as of 'group karma' - karma of a social group or residents of some specific place for instance. That makes me think of Bhutan, where every child is born already with a debt that he/she will never be able to pay off during his/her life. Sad but true.
And of course, one shoud do skillful deeds in order to help others to achieve the enlightenment and relieve - that can be understood as helping other 'individuals' as well as building good karma for 'everything that is connected' :-)
