What does it mean if I feel disconnected when I look away from my laptop? I know that "adults" or, the older generation say that our generation is all about technology and all that good stuff...and some kids are WAY into their gadgets and stuff ( Read more... )

I understand what you mean. The laptop and by extension the internet feel like attachments to the body. With them, you connect to a new world and there really is no way to get it besides using technology. So once you make friends online, most of the time you can only contact them online.

I do feel like a different person on the internet. Honestly, I feel like a better person. More eloquent, easier to explain myself, and people only see what I want to show them. I can work on bettering myself by accenting all my better qualities so that the internet as a whole, because a better place, even if only fractionally so. Every individual that logs on contributes some part of themselves to the collective knowledge base, so that's why the internet's always this shifting, changing thing. I bet many great philosophies have been made about the cyberspace animal known as the internet.

It's just crazy... even when I take my eyes off the screen, it's something surreal to me.

I don't even know :) But it's a good thing.
