Just a Miracle (P. 2)

It all started with Christianity and now Kyuhyun and Siwon became incredibly good friends, they would hang out when their schedules allowed it and would spend a lot of time with each other. During that time Siwon learned a lot about Kyuhyun. He found out he was a game addict and was really good at it (he even beat Heechul, who was the best gamer in the group), he was also very good at Math and was learning to play the clarinet (Kyuhyun himself knew he wasn’t good). He also found out that, unlike other maknaes, Kyuhyun wasn’t one to use aeygo very often (but could be amazingly cute without trying sometimes); he opted instead for the snarky attitude, messing around with some of the hyungs.
Siwon was glad that he could finally approach to the boy with the gifted voice and could have a real connection with him; a real friendship, as he once put it.
It was mid-April and Hankyung and Siwon were in China to promote Super Junior; Siwon missed the rest of the members a lot and was constantly calling them, checking out on them, especially on Kyuhyun. He was his only dongseng in the group as Ryeowook and Kibum were of his same age, so he felt he should look out for the maknae.
One night he and Hankyung were reading the script that “Happy Camping” had sent for the show the next day when the older’s phone rang, the caller ID showed it was Donghae.
-Donghae, how are you? Hankyung said as he turned on the speaker so Siwon could also hear.
-H-Hyung Donghae stuttered and started sobbing
-Donghae...Donghae Hyung what’s going on? Siwon pleaded. Donghae sobbed a little bit more until he was able to speak again.
-T-There’s been an accident... Hankyung and Siwon just looked at each other worriedly.
-What? How? Who was in it? Hankyung asked trying to sound calm though he was freaking out. Siwon had already gotten up from his bed and was next to his hyung.
-They were coming back form Sukira when the van toppled over...Teukkie hyung, Shindong hyung, Hyukjae and Kyuhyun. And Donghae broke into sobs once again, he couldn’t keep talking.
Hankyung turned the speaker off and continued talking with what sounded like Heechul. When Siwon heard Kyuhyun’s name he sat back on the bed and put his head in his hands, the boy he felt bound to protect was hurt and from what Donghae said, it was quite delicate; even though the weren’t even in the same country at the time, he felt he had failed to protect Kyuhyun.
Hankyung came back and told Siwon that Hyukjae and Shindong seemed OK, Leeteuk was a little delicate and Kyuhyun was unconscious and very injured. He knew they had to go back to Korea so he called his manager, informed him about what had happened and took the first plane back home.
That week was one of the worst in Siwon’s life, the doctor told Kyuhyun’s family and the members that he had to go through a tracheotomy to have a slight chance of survival, but that meant that he wouldn’t be able to sing anymore. His father refused the surgery and asked Lee Soo Man to find someone that could practice an alternative surgery, he found a doctor that used another way to operate.
Even though the surgery was a success, Kyuhyun remained unconscious for 6 days, it was a living hell for the members who were dead worried about the maknae. Siwon couldn’t contain his nervousness anymore, what if Kyuhyun never woke up? What if he couldn’t stand on stage with Super Junior anymore? What if the world was deprived from his angelic voice forever?, those questions kept going through Siwon’s head everyday when he visited his unconscious dongseng at the hospital.
Siwon was on a radio show the night Ryeowook called him telling him Kyuhyun had woken up, he shed some tears of joy and went to the hospital as soon as the show ended. Unfortunately it was too late already and the youngest was still very weak so he felt asleep, Siwon was a little disappointed but his mood brighten enormously when Kyuhyun’s father told him he was the first member he asked about.
