I also agree but when the person you love is really the only friend you have... How can you not be afraid of losing them? Once you've lost them...who have you got?
Love is also quite a strong word. I'm sure there are few in my life I'll be able to say I actually loved.

What love 'means' is often defined by the situational context of the moment. Who among us hasn't been burned by the old "love" substituted for "lust" bit? *sigh*

But anywho... I tend to agree with th mousie's thoughts here... and would also add that beyond honesty... communication is a must. If ya don't talk about and explore your thoughts, dreams, worries, fears, etc... the relationship grows stale, and is subject to one side or another making assumptions about or taking the other for granted. Remember that a relationship is a two-way street... and it takes work from 'both' sides to keep it alive and running strong.

As far as it being easier to forgive a friend than a lover... who's been given the greater level of trust and intimacy? ;)

The last thing I'd mention is after a break-up... forgive (both the other person 'and' yourself), try to learn from your experience, and try to get on with life. If ya don't forgive, it can leave ya a bitter, cynical, dried-up shell of a person (been there... done that).
