So I have been researching and Mals age is frustratingly inconsistent, somehow he has three different dates listed! Im going with March 27, 2486 for Mal then than makes:
- Mal 31
- Zoe 29
- Simon 27

Remember, 25th century means 2400s. So late 25th century would be sometime in the 2490s or possibly 2480s. If River was born in 2500, that's the start of the 26th century. So that puts Inara anywhere from a few years to a decade or so older than River. I could see Inara being in her late 20s if she was born somewhere around 2490.

Yeah, they've had such drastically different life experiences that it's really hard to compare them that way. I would agree to Inara being around the same age as Simon. Mid to late 20s seems about right for her.
I hadn't ever really thought about everyone's relative ages, but it is interesting to speculate on. :-)

I find it hi-larious when folk get bent out of shape about Mal/River age gap. Buffy and Angel for one. Buffy was 17 when Angel went there, and cue the fangirling! There's 17 years between my parents, and my aunt and uncle. Callista Flockhart and Harrison Ford. Michael Douglass and Katherine Zeta-Jones.

Age doesn't matter as long as both parties are old enough and capable enough to know their own minds, so I say set course for the Special Hell, first class all the way :D
