Dec 10, 2015 14:28

The Dreamstress has the HSM 2016 challenges posted. I may be participating in this one. I have so many things that need sewing this year. Surely, I can make them fit the challenges.

January - Procastination: the petticoat, corset cover, and skirt for my 1895 ensemble
February - Tucks & Pleating: 1895 shirtwaist will have tucks to fit the front ( Read more... )

I'm amazed that you're going to school AND have the time to do all that sewing!

lol I totally don't sew while classes are going on. But with a month off now and 4-5 months off in the summer I can probably get the larger projects done in those times. The rest of the year when I'm actually in class is more for the small, mostly hand-sewing projects like straw hats and the bow tie. Also, I may only get half of this done by the end of the year so we'll see then. ;p

Love your line-up! I saw that the new challenges were posted but hadn't had time to go look. I think I could do a few of those this year!

Ooooh! that will be fun :-)

I tried doing them this year and I just couldn't co-ordinate all my sewing to match the challenges but I enjoy reading about other people doing them and what they make :-)

I think too, I'm not into historical stuff so much. I'm more into like a flavour of a time, or influence by a time, rather than that historical accuracy that people who do those challenges tend to be into.

Yeah, I couldn't swing it this year either. I love seeing other people's too! It's fun to read about all the details and such.

Maroon counts as red in my books. Nice line up of plans. I found these challenges helpful. I put them in my day planner. Two months prior to a challenge I figure out what I need to buy. I order anything that has to come by mail. The month before I begin amassing the supplies and working out a schedule (cut on this day, assemble these days, trim on this day....). Then I put in the planner the day I will photograph, blog and post on the challenge Facebook page. Keeps me disciplined. I treat it like I did my school homework.
