Blah mock-up 2.5

No pictures. I was too disgusted with this whole process. My latest mock-up with new back panels and gussets was somehow simultaneously better AND worse. I fixed the hip spring problem, but the very back gusset was all wonky. And then something was making the bust gussets sit too low, even though they were at the right height yesterday. I just don' ( Read more... )

So devious! The myriad of period corsets made with gussets led me to believe that I could do it too. But now I see that that's just part of their evil.

This is why they had corset makers - the few people who were actually good at it, made the gussets. Everyone else just bought one of those and made their own dresses. :-)

Boo! I'm sorry your corset is being such a pain. I've been working on sleeves for days so I definitely understand that feeling of disgust...

Yay for Jonathan Strange!! I just watched it again and I still love it so much. I hope you enjoy it too!

Thanks Aubry! Ugh sleeves. They can go take a short walk off a long pier along with gussets. ;p

I am eagerly anticipating this week's episode! It's such a good adaptation.

Oh isn't it so frustrating when fitting something makes it worse? Grrrr! I'm good at doing it with trouser fitting.

Oh oh oh I love raspberry sticky buns. Mmmmm!!!!!!!!

Yes! It's awful! Luckily, I picked up some more mock-up fabric and made a new mock-up without gussets that is much better, so my faith in my fitting abilities is restored. :)

They were good! I heated mine up in the microwave and slathered it with butter. Yum!

Oh that's good to hear! It's always nice to have faith in your abilities restored.

With the trousers, I worked so hard on one pattern, it totally didn't resemble the original at all. But I learnt a LOT about trouser fitting. I ended up back at the original pattern with a few key tweaks and lo and behold it worked well!

Now I just need to do that magic to a nice fitted button-shirt as well...

Looking forward to the next installment of your mock-up.

And oh yum!!!!!
