A Quandary

So it's like this.  I'm in the process of writing a horribly cheesy romance set in First Age Valinor.

Do I publish it or not?

There's a good chance it will be ripped to shreds and there may be reason for it.

I'll have to think about it.

'Publish' means to post it somewhere on the Net where people can read it. It's based on someone else's work so it couldn't go through the regular channels of print publishing.

In that case, if you want it to be ripped to shreds in order to learn as a writer, then go for it. If you already know why it would get ripped to shreds, then maybe there isn't much point. On the other hand, people might point out some of its strengths too, which could be good.

I posted a couple of chapters. It's being ignored rather than ripped to shreds (or praised to the skies). I guess that means it's mediocre. Not bad enough to hate and not good enough to hold any interest.
