Rectius vives, Licini, neque altum
semper urgendo neque, dum procellas

The line between distraction and reprioritization must be carefully drawn. I can no longer trust that direct threats to Amber will be met in sufficient force by the work of those in authority. Neither would my own presence or resources constitute the force needed to turn the battle against current enemies. Dominic's approach may be more useful than my own. Criticizing a lack of attention to duty effects less progress than organizing dutiful people.
Amber's safety matters more than Montevalno's. I can do more for Montevalno than I can for Amber. Word from naval command would settle the debate, if I'd heard from them since the Orchid Queen went down.
Dinah and Cyrus would know more. Decisions made without sufficient information succeed only by chance.
