Great post. Under the legal authority entry, I found: "Legality aside, there is tremendous social pressure to respect one's betters." I would love to see this come into play a bit more - though certainly it doesn't have a lot to do with law. :)
It's interesting when it comes up in play, partly because there are several valid IC points of disagreement (aside from general deliberate IC misunderstanding) about what constitutes one's "better
( ... )
Though I add as a note to my first point, there are probably quite clear rankings between the various lords, the position of GC titles, and so forth that come up when used for things like where to sit people at formal dinners. But this does not mean that everyone in such a ranking considers "You're the kind of Lord who sits two places closer to the front of the table than I do" a very important distinction when offering respect or not.
Naturally very complicated. I am eternally going through +finger and PBG information to try and discern the social status of someone. Also, I refer to gossip to try and determine whom is in favour with whom. Maybe that sounds dry, but I find it adds an important dimension to social situations and roleplaying them.
I have seen how little gestures by the Royals(but certainly the phenomena is not limited to them) can completely boost someone's status. Likewise I have also seen socially inconsequential people snub Princes. It's a very complicated thing. And I can see how it might not be for everyone.
Apparently I'm guilty of transporting dead bodies about town in an incorrect fashion.
Can you direct me to that specific law if it exists?
Given I stand accused of such, I'd like to see how wrapping dead bodies in shrouds and carting them off to the appropriate authority was in breach of that.
That's the vague image I have of medieval style body transportation. So I'm curious about how such is 'actually' done in Amber city proper.

I have no more canonical information about the legal system in Amber than that explained in the links above. If you want an IC answer on that, I recommend seeking an IC lawyer, magistrate, etc. For an OOC answer, GMs are more likely to know.
Well it does seem to be that there are individuals making up laws as they go and claiming others are in breach of them. Given that circumstance, perhaps before anyone claims another has actually broken the law (myself included of course), they should do a +submit to staff and then forward any reply on to the individual concerned, IE: The person they're accusing of breaking said law.
Otherwise we have 3 people over here saying: Action A is illegal. And 4 people over there saying: Action A is not illegal but Action B is.
Come the end of the day, which is it?
Also just because someone has the 'Law Gift' it does not mean they OOC know what is the law and what is not. They're just more likely to know ICly and thus I suppose it places the onus upon them to double check with staff before making assumptions.

I am not entirely sure why you are asking me rhetorical questions about your disputes with other players. Perhaps you should discuss it with them or staff.
I am not attacking anyone. If anyone believes I am, then you are mistaken. If you believe I am, then by all means contact me via LJ or +mail/page me at the Game to discuss your concerns

Bleys, aside from the gossip that mentioned it, is anyone actually trying to go after you IC for it?
I will honestly be surprised if they are, since the whole point of that gossip seemed to be a counter move to your public assertion that the Watch wasn't doing their job. Spin counter-spin.
