Title: As My Fingers Press Onto the Strings, Yet Another Clumsy Chord
Characters: Kadaj and Zexion
Location: Musical Therapy, Library, ?
Rating: Daja? In a PG-13 log?! IMPOSSIBLE I guess it is impossible. Eventual NC-17.
Summary: Zexion wanders into musical therapy for a good spot to read, Kadaj wants to learn to play the piano, and then later they'll head to the library. Yepyep.
Day/Time: Day 12, musical therapy tiem

Zexion tried to decide whether or not it would be a good idea to go to the musical therapy room to read.

It could be nice, because he had read somewhere that mental illness could heighten creative power, or at least be directly related to it, in some cases... listening to something pleasing would be a welcome change to the silence of his bedroom - though Zexion would never take advantage of such lovely silence, seeing as it was rare in a room such as his.

Thankfully Zim wasn't in their room much.

At the same time, however, there could be some... less talented people in the room; he wouldn't stand for bleeding ears. Besides, what if some of the nurses started bugging him to try to play something? Zexion was not musically inclined.

And so he was tenative when peeking into the room he knew was for musical therapy, book in one hand, the other curling over the doorway lightly, looking around the room for anyone he needed to avoid.

It's just another boring therapy, that's all it is. That's what he was telling himself. Yes, it was boring for the moment, but there weren't many people in the room aside from the few nurses they'd put in there. Maybe no one else was going to show up.

Sitting on the bench in front of the piano, Kadaj leaned against the edge of it just slightly, elbow propped up and his cheek resting in his hand, the other hand trailing along the ivory keys of the piano.

He pushed down every now and then on a key, listening to the soft sounds they made. He remembered, when he was younger, playing around sometimes and all he could get was those easy songs; like Twinkle, Twinkle or something.

Though, since he was older and could remember more of the keys now, perhaps he could play something better and lately, there was a song that was bothering him and wanted to be played.

Shifting, Kadaj faced the piano fully and brought his other hand down to press down on the black keys, blinking lightly when they made a low sounding chord; too low. ``No, that's not right..``

Blinking when he spotted Kadaj at the piano, Zexion watched for a moment, surveying the scene with a flat eye before calling out to his friend. A few other people sat around, but the room was otherwise sparse; he didn't know whether he was surprised at this or not. One of the nurses glanced at him but didn't say anything, thankfully.

He didn't know that Kadaj played anything... in fact, he didn't know much about the boy at all, when it came down to it.

The piano was rather magnificent in the slate-haired boy's eyes, and the small, worn one that he had in his home when he was growing up paled drastically in comparison. Seems like everything in this place is fancy...

Seeing as the other patients in the room he didn't recognize, Zexion deemed it safe to enter, holding his book casually in one hand at his side and stopping a few steps in.

"Kadaj." he voiced calmly, a slight smile reaching his face and lacing his voice.

His fingers continued to press at keys until he found the right chord, pushing the black objects down then smiling softly, his other hand still resting on the white keys. It sounded rather nice, the music anyway's.

Looking up when he heard his name, Kadaj blinked lightly then turned to look towards the door, a bright smile spreading across his face at the sight of his blue haired friend.

He pulled his hand away to wave towards Zexion, pushing the bench out and standing up afterwards, heading over to the shorter male with his usual slight bounce.

When he got in front of the other male, he stopped for a moment, blinking again and staring down at him. He wanted to hug the other, but he didn't want to end up scaring Zexion if he wasn't.. medicated. He remembered what had happened at the pool.

``Zexion,`` he replied, hands tucking behind his back for the moment. ``Nice to see you again.``

A hesitant hand raised to wave in return before returning limply to his side. He wasn't really the type of person to do such a thing, but he figured it would be rude not to...

Zexion watched Kadaj bounce toward him with an affable smile, shuffling forward a few steps to meet him and holding his book close to his side; he had to tilt his head up a bit to keep his eyes on the younger male's face when he drew nearer.

Blinking as well, he noticed the other boy's pause, guessing at what he was going to do. It seemed strange to him that Kadaj would worry about his comfort that much, but he supposed it was unpleasant both ways when he had an attack. Thankfully he was medicated almost constantly lately...

"Nice to see you, too." He replied, then, gathering his courage, slid his arms into the gap between the other's arms and torso, leaning forward and hugging the boy. Zexion was still... awkward at this sort of thing, but he felt that he could at least greet Kadaj with something more than just words.

After merely a moment of closeness, he pulled away from the warmth of the other male's body and looked down, somewhat embarrassed.

Watching Zexion's hand raise curiously, he tilted his head then smiled again, bringing his own hand up to brush through his silver bangs.

Kadaj tensed a little in surprise when the other male hugged him, green eyes blinking slowly before he relaxed and hugged Zexion back, his smile reappearing after a few minutes. He was glad that the blue haired male was okay with being touched, it made him feel a little more comfortable.

He allowed Zexion to pull away, dropping his hands against his sides then glancing over his shoulder towards the piano, licking his lips slightly. ``Ah, did.. you come in here for therapy too, or..`` he trailed off, taking note of the book in the other's hand.

Of course, Zexion must have come in here to read his book or something. Did music help him concentrate on stories or something?

Biting onto his lower lip, he placed his arms around his stomachs, gripping at his hips and looking down at his feet. ``Sorry if I'm rambling or whatever. I just thought.. yeah.``

Just shut up, Kadaj. You sound like a moron.

Tilting his head slightly during Kadaj's speech, Zexion paused before furrowing his brow. He hadn't thought the other boy was rambling, and he didn't think Kadaj the type to worry about such a thing. Maybe they had switched positions in this friendship during the hug?

"You're not rambling." If anyone rambles around here, it's Zack. "Don't mind me if you so choose. I'm merely here to read, for a change of scenery. You were playing the piano, weren't you? Do continue."

It was the most he had spoken in a surprisingly long time.

When he spoke of reading he lifted said book, a bookmark poking out near the very end. It was nearly time to return to the library for another few books, or Black Jack's collection, which was slightly more choice.

He had already read through most of those anyway, and he would readily admit to it. Embarrassment was something he dealt with a lot, but never was Zexion nervous about the amount of time he spent reading.

Looking to his friend once more, he returned his book to his side and awaited his reply.

Swallowing rather hard, Kadaj lifted his hands and brushed them through his hair, moving the silver strands out of his eyes then biting on his lower lip. He felt like he was rambling, but if it didn't bother Zexion..

``If you say so,`` he muttered, locking his hands together in front of his face. ``I was, but if you want to go somewhere else, that's fine with me.``

He let his attention go to the book when Zexion lifted it, nodding his head then glancing over his shoulder again. Well, he could always come back and play again later. Not like it really bothered him any.

Setting his hands on his hips, he smiled slightly then looked towards the door, thinking for a moment before reaching out to take hold of Zexion's hand, tugging lightly and leading him towards the door.

He was sure that he had a better idea of where Zexion would probably want to be, so he figured he could try it.

He blinked, slightly confused. What was wrong with Kadaj today?

"I wouldn't come in here if I didn't want to, Kadaj, and wouldn't leave just because you were in here, either. I don't see . . ."

Zexion trailed off, letting himself be pulled by the hand after hesitating for a moment. That was certainly unexpected; he knew the other boy couldn't have planned anything seeing a he had chosen to go to musical therapy on a whim, but with such a sudden change of heart . . . was he just going on a random idea?

Silently he followed Kadaj down the halls, however, and after a few moments of watching where they turned Zexion easily recognized it as the path to the library. After realizing this, a bit more of a bounce reached his step and he sped up some to walk beside his friend instead of trailing behind. "The library." he stated to show the boy he knew, smiling slightly and swinging his book. Of course, he could go there any time he wanted, but that Kadaj had thought to bring him there specifically made him feel (a bit awkwardly) especially pleased.

Why he would give up what he was doing for this, Zexion had no idea.

He didn't exactly understand why he had been so nervous, but as long as he was starting to calm down now, it didn't bother him much.

``Well, I wasn't sure what you'd do, you know.. I can't read minds or anything.`` Shrugging his shoulders, he pulled his free hand up to move his hair out of his eyes, glancing back then over when the other male moved to be beside him, a light grin crossing his face.

Kadaj nodded quickly, tightening his hold on Zexion's hand a little and continuing down the hall at a quick pace, stopping when they got to the room that was the library. Really, he didn't know what came over him, but he was sure Zexion would like the library a lot more than musical therapy. Kadaj had already gone through the suffering of listening to people attempt to play the instruments and it wasn't too much fun.

His free hand lowered from his hair, reaching out to open the door as he stepped inside. ``Here we are,`` he stated absently.

Lapsing into silence once more, Zexion continued to walk with Kadaj, noticing with slight discomposure that they were going down the hall hand-in-hand, and that anyone could see. Public displays of affection weren't the slate haired boy's favorite thing; he was barely getting used to affection at all.

But he tried to ignore it, knowing that if he pulled his hand away by now he would probably make Kadaj mad. And besides, at the speedy pace they were going he could almost say that if he let go he would be left behind in the other's dust. Was there something urgent to do in the library?

Once they reached the room, Zexion inhaled the scent of his favorite place, sighing and then taking a step toward Kadaj with a questioning expression. "Yes." he agreed to his statement. "Now, was there anything in particular you wanted to do here . . . ?"

The question may have been obvious, read, but why would they come here so quickly for such a thing? Zexion was a book enthusiast, but none-the-less.

". . . would you . . . read with me?" He blinked his eyes to the floor after the quiet question, disgusted with himself at his own, in his opinion, obnoxious nervousness. Horrible.

But it was just that that Zexion wanted Kadaj to do, and he had realized this a moment or so after they had entered the library. After he spoke, however, he realized that it was a stupid notion, and somewhat wished he could take it back.

Staring into the room silently, Kadaj pulled his hand up to tangle into his hair again, blinking slowly in thought before biting down on his bottom lip. He felt like he was making the other male uncomfortable, but he hoped that he wasn't.

He licked his lips and tilted his head towards the question, his fingers brushing through his bangs in a nervous fashion before he dropped his hand to rest on his hip. He seriously had to quit fidgeting.

``Ah, not really, but I figured since you like it here the most..`` Trailing off, he looked towards the blue haired male and smiled softly, lifting the hand that held Zexion's.

The second question sort of took him by surprise, but not too much. His grin brightened, fingers tightening slightly around the other male's as he turned away again. ``If.. you want me to, sure.``

Kadaj had never read that much, but he did like doing if he had a good book and was interested in reading at the time. Other than that, he could care less, but it wasn't like he didn't like it.

"Ah." Zexion said, still not really understanding Kadaj's motives but deciding to drop it. The reason for his fidgeting stuck in his mind, however; all things considered, he should be the one nervous, not the other.

But maybe there was something on the silver haired male's mind that was distracting him . . . he couldn't see how he would intimidate anyone how he was now, on the verge of blushing and holding the boy's hand. It was pathetic, really.

The urge to fidget actually did arise when Kadaj replied, Zexion grew a bit flustered, not knowing where he was even going to go with that. The other did seem a little happier about it, but he probably expected him to know what the hell he was doing. Yes, that might have been nice.

For once he hadn't thought something through, and he was definitely regretting it.

"I . . . " Zexion stuck his book under his arm and ran a hand through his hair, puffing at the bangs when they came back and some hairs landed in his mouth. "Alright."

He let a silence that was almost maddening stretch for a moment before scuffing a foot against the floor and looking at it. "Then . . . what do you want to read . . . ?"

His hands flexed, eyes looking down at his fingers before he lowered them to rest on his hips, glancing off towards one of the bookshelves. What did he want to read? Well, probably anything Zexion wanted; anything good.

Alright, it was time to stop fidgeting and messing around. Even if he felt sort of nervous, and wasn't sure why, he was just going to force himself to overcome that.

Taking a quick breath, he sighed it back out, blowing his bangs out of his eyes and grinning slightly, reaching out with both hands to take hold of Zexion's arm that wasn't holding his book.

He pulled the smaller male forwards into the room and headed over towards one of the bookshelves that he had been looking at, tugging the other around it and stopping when he came face to face with a wall. Well, that was unexpected, but it could work.

Kadaj sighed and pulled his other hand up, brushing it through his hair yet again then turning around so he was facing Zexion, leaning backwards against the wall with a small smile. ``Whatever you're reading will be fine with me, as long as I can read it with you.``

It was growing easier to let himself be lead around, and Zexion followed without question when Kadaj began to walk, mentally sighing with relief. If he was left to awkwardly show that he wanted to be around someone for basically the first time in his life, saying it out loud and awaiting judgment, the entire time would probably be ruined. He hadn't been good with expressing his own emotions in the first place, and trying seemed basically hopeless.

Just as surprised as Kadaj at the abrupt wall, Zexion stayed close to him when he turned around, looking down at his book at his words. It was a medical volume.

Giving a quiet laugh, he shook his head slightly. "This isn't the type of book one would read with another." Well, as far as he knew.

He paused a moment to look at the shelf next to them, eyes scanning the lines of books before he picked out a novel he had read before. A little easier on the mind than the things he usually read. "I suppose this one would work."

Somehow now that they were out of the public eye, Zexion was relaxing and growing more comfortable around the other male again. He was glad, too; all the pent up nervousness was really growing bothersome.

Carefully he set his original book down on the shelf and stood nearer, thinking the best way to read together would be sitting in front of Kadaj or next to him. But he didn't want to go down there by himself, seeing as that would be rather awkward . . .

". . . sit?" He requested, holding onto the younger boy's shirt and pulling down slightly in encouragement.

:c i fail and didn't color code it. sorryyy. i'll do it laterer?
