as hard as it as, especially since my mom and i about everything, any discussion about politics is avoided.

it upsets her and angers me that she can even consider that platform.

Having a Republican for a step-father is even more difficult! I'd respect his opinions more if he would do the same of my opinions. No go.

my mother just gets worse with age. She preaches to everyone about how great the republicans are like of course we're all republicans. I mean, it makes me really sick to my stomach.

AH! My step-dad does the same thing! He assumes everyone thinks the same way as he does. And he brings up politics at the most inappropriate times. When I was car shopping he asked the salesman "So are you for McCain or Obama?" I was so mad! I told him that wasn't the time or place for those sort of questions.

Oh, that's better than my mother who would never even ask because there's NO WAY anyone would vote for Obama.

My entire family is Republican. Even my in-laws are all Republican. My sister is blindly Republican which is even worse. She thinks that's what she's supposed to be but doesn't actually research any of the issues. Same goes for Carlos' brother, Jose. He's an ex-marine meathead. Don't get me wrong...Jose is a really fun, nice guy. It's just that he still thinks Obama is muslim. He doesn't have any real knowledge about the issues or candidates.

Same here, about my whole family, except my dad... thank god.

But it's painful, VERY painful.

The amount of unconscious irony in some of the comments in this thread is astonishing.

Bwahahaha! ...same goes for a brother-in-law, FIL, MIL, SIL, etc, etc. For me it's not so much about being Republican / Democrat as it is the "reasons" they are.

BTW, check this gem out: http://www.amazon.com/Gook-John-McCains-Racism-Matters/dp/0967943345 Uhh, I don't think I'll be voting for him...and I usually, not always, lean republican.
