Ok here goes. I'm still waiting on a lot of things to emerge, so it'll be a lot more filled in once that happens.
you might have to right click on the image and view image to see the pictures, depending on your lj layout. Sorry.. you just can't make out individual plants when they're smaller.
Here's the new palm. I think it's a 'dwarf palmetto' and although it might not get any taller, it should thicken up a bunch. It's kinda unruly right now, but I think it's going to look great once it takes hold.
And the other big score from the plant-snatching was this giant Philodendron -- it was almost completely covered in overgrown vines and whatnot, so it might take some time to perk up:
I also got tons of lilies/irises/garlic chives and planted most of them right along the house. I'm hoping they perk up and fill in. Also, this pretty little hollyfern.
This isn't a great picture because of the shadows, but this is where my hammock is.. I filled in some areas with miscellaneous lilies and garlic chives, and a random iron cross plant.
Switching to the front:
I removed 3 large, prickly, boring holly bushes that the builder put in, and replaced them with clumps of Iron Cross plant that we took from that house. It's hard to see in this pic, but they're right in front of the rocking chairs (that I also recently re-stained!)
Closer:
(and yes, we're going to line the beds with something this year to keep the grass out, we just can't decide what we want to do.)
Also, it's not weeds.. I'm letting the loriope act as ground cover.. it will fill in the flower bed and give it a nice full look.
