Because dead people don't (usually) get mocked.

(btw, I read that and thought of scene where Harry falls off cliff to be caught by weasley brothers and when he's hanging on he says I love you to Hermione and she doesn't hear him. I love the angst that is DV/DS/DD whichever one it was. I definitely re-read them during my completely boring and thankfully paid job this summer. shh.)

oh my gosh, now i'm going to go reread them, which is really bad, because over the next two weeks i have 40+ pages of papers to turn in. none of them remotely started.

that is indeed the best example.
