Switching from iPhone to Android - Part 1 - Introduction

I've just bought an HTC Desire. I am currently an iPhone user. I've decided to chronicle my switch from one platform to another as it may help others to make an informed decision as to whether they want to switch too. Merv seems to love his HTC Hero, and the desire looks pretty nice.

I was contemplating getting the iPhone 4 when my blackberry runs out in October, but when they released it all I heard was horror stories, so I'll be going android as well.

Will be interesting to see what you think, I'm subjective having never had an iPhone (although I had good reasons for not getting one, up until this latest release).

Agree with Rolphus re the biggest issue, I'm still waiting on Orange for my 2.1 rollout. However, a lot of Android users IME have been of a more technical kind, and would be more comfortable with updating the ROMs and unofficial updates - I think Android appeals to the more technically capable type who is happier to fiddle about with their phone to get the personalised setup they want. Tis the Linux of the handset world.

Give appbrain.com a try when you start installing apps, it's much easier to use than the Android marketplace.
