Oh man, the American Dream. We can't even decide what it means, but we assume, perhaps collectively, that what we are told as children is true and that loyalty, ingenuity, and work will pay us the dividends that we are due.

The American Dream means nothing unless YOU have a dream. It has to be something you are willing to make sacrifices for. These sacrifices might be lose of a social life (85hr weeks), or might be working for only $10k a year and never having anything except your dream (Starving artist), or something else. Happiness is what you call happiness, not what others call it.
