Can anyone recommend a good glue for reattaching the cover of a paperback?

this is a page explaining how to reattach a paperback book cover and it seems to recommend something called "magic mend", but that looks like the store's own brand of PVA adhesive, which you can get at other places as well. i have used this brand before and i imagine it would work well, or you can search the internet yourself or try a local art supply store and ask for a PVA (poly vinyl acetate) glue. : ) hope that helps!

Man, I just tape. How sad. And I used to *work* in the cataloging and bindery dept at the campus biomed library in college. Use clear packing tape on the inside of the cover and the first page. Not pretty, but it works.

I just use a hot melt glue gun. It can be a little lumpy, but it holds well.

(Out of curiosity, is this related to Acacia's post re: Wheel of Time?)

Alas, yes, The Great Hunt is without a cover. Admittedly, it's an improvement, but I should probably reattach it anyway, if only to protect the pages within.

Did you find those books to be particularly flimsy too?

weird, LJ seems to have eaten my response.

Anyway, yeah, we've had the same problem with that series. I think it's a matter of the books being too thick to really hold reliably with standard paperback glue. Or maybe they just had a bad batch, and we ended up with copies from the same printing.
