End of an Era

The best computer I've ever had has died in its prime. A 3.6ghz P4 with a gig of ram I bought between 3 and 4 years ago. It was the first computer I bought myself with my own hard-earned money and it operated more smoothly than any other system I've ever seen. It filled me with delight every time I used it. THe only issue with Dell machines is that they hide a lot of the specifics, like how many expansion slots and memory slots the system has (total), and how many are used in a specific configuration. For example, the Dell Dimension 2400 used to be the most basic, el-cheapo model. It has on-board graphics, but no AGP slot, so you couldn't upgrade the graphics to something better. Expect that on the low-end systems. It also only has two memory slots, and it's limited as to what size DIMMs you can put in them. Dells have proprietary RAM, so they're great until you want to upgrade. We switched to HP this time.

In simple words..... Dell computers suck, you couldn't pay me to buy one ever.
