Now I bet this is a surprise! Yes, the next chapter is out after only a week instead of six months, in part due to the lovely comments and the cries of YAGH, CLIFFIE! that prompted me to get off my lazy arse and write. The chapter after this will hopefully be out in a couple of weeks; it's already written but needs an additional few paragraphs here

I like the way that Ryou and Darius subtly played off each other in this chapter, little prods and jokes; as well as the tiny ways they're looking out for each other. Darius' hand on Ryous back was the Mal equivalent of being carried up those stairs bridal style! XD
The baddies are Egyptian gods. Of course they are! The only more sinister religion out there is Chr- I mean Mayan! lol. I loved that, it's going to be awesome to see you play around with all the creepy Egyptian mythology.
GLIFFHANGER-ED... Again. (Admit it! You do it to see your readers squirm) GAH! *squirms*
On one side I hope that they make it back to Assyria, but another part of me is all: ROAD TRIP PART TWO!!!! Hahaha yes I'm in Darius' camp where it never occurs to me that Ryou can't do it.

Yes, I don't get much more romantic than that ^__^ Which...maybe is kinda scary now that I think about it. Husband better start worrying...
This being a fairly short arc, I didn't put them way back on the other side of the Outlands. We'll get more action with Darius back at hte head of the armies.

*sob* That is even more terrible than the last cliff hanger (jumper). I didn't think that was possible, but there you go. Oh Ryou, oh Darius, I love them beyond words. This story is so damn wonderful I can't take the wait for more. Please please do update soonish. Ryou seems to be getting more of an attitude, or more confidence, I don't know, but I love it. Hahah his assertiveness and poise with the creepy Ancient One was fabulous. And Darius. Darius. He is fantastic as always. My favourite favourite bit from him : “I didn't know what I was doing when I changed his spell on you. If I don't learn how to fix this, it seems you won't be able to understand anybody else.”
“I don't care!”

Loved the descriptions of their surroundings, the country and the weirdness and the flesh-mask person and the creepy kid. So vivid. ... kinda picasso-ish, which would be hella creepy irl. DX

Darius gave the Ancient One a vile look. “I can think of worse things.”
“So can I.”
I just know that whatever Ryou is imagining is sooooo much worse than Darius's mental images, and Darius is going to be looking back and going 'no, okay, I *don't* really want to know, I'm good without that one' because he is smart awesome like that.
