I'm new to LJ and was going to come here to ask for advice on an issue, but I doubt I'll be able to get advice for it here, so instead of ranting aimlessly, I'd like to instead comment on something.

Yep. I personally differentiate between gender and sex - even when I know they are actually asking about sex... and even then it gets confusing! You get to check male -- or whatever you want.

For what its worth, I have heard of Mazz Ctr categorizing a guy as FTM when they knew that, instead of what he checked - so you might need to be a bit vocal if you want to stay in the M box.

I suppose it depends on context. When a potential service is based specifically on sex/physicality (as in your case), accuracy helps the care providers (making a note on the form or crossing out "Gender" and writing "Sex" may bring it to their attention. For places where your physicsal sex is irrelevant, choosing Male makes the most sense (if it's the case, you can change "Sex" and replace it with "Gender")

i can relate but in a different way, i can relate in that i dont want to check any boxes which only further confuses my existence hahha
