We got a pack o' pots and pans for a wedding gift, and then the Bay had a 50% off sale so we returned the ones we got and got better ones. They're actually me-proof! (Case example: I left a pot of soup "simmering" yesterday for 2 hours... totally forgot. It was that canned ready-to-eat stuff.) Great heat distribution, we hardly ever have stuff burn, and the pancakes always come off the pan evenly browned. And when I drop the glass lids, they do not break! And they are easy to clean! Non-stick, but not the cheap kind that rubs off. I think they may have been called Caphlon or something like that, or maybe that was the name of a similar brand. Anyways, I highly recommend them if you are in the market for non-stick cookware. I know some people think non-stick is for weenies, but I like this stuff.

I think that I'm still at the non-stick phase of my cooking. We will definitely look at what Sears and The Bay have to offer. Mind you, I pointed out some (what I thought were) really nice and high quality pots and pans to my husband (they were in someone's shopping cart and happened to be 50% off...but still ringing up at like $80), and he just said that those were "cheap" and that we need to invest in something "better". So, he obviously has something in mind....or he's a snob. Mind you, between the two of us, I'd have to say that the snob is me, so...he probably has something in mind. I'll point out the ones you are talking about (I can see them in my head...I saw them before) and see what he thinks.

Anyway, my friend hanrow suggested that I get a book called "Gear for Your Kitchen" by Alton Brown (or something like that). Apparently that's a good book to base your purchases on.

And since getting the new dishwasher, EVERY pot and pan is "easy to clean" in our household. :-)

I think that Indian food is the one food that I will not be making any time soon. Unfortunately, it seemed to be the food of choice for take-out when I was on-call in medical school, and as good as it was, I'm just too fed up with it now. (Mind you, I'm also the person who refuses to eat the same thing two days in a row, and cannot have the same meal twice in a month or I won't eat it for the next year...)
