Back from my 2ish month hiatus

Nov 10, 2008 17:26

OK, so I took a little time away from LJ... OK, so it was a lot of time. I haven't even really read anyone's posts for the past couple months, never mind commented on them or added any of my own. Life has been rather hiccupy and annoying lately... which means my first post BACK from said hiatus will be a somewhat whiney one.

-The District Manager has been threatening the jobs of all us little peons at the store as well as that of the General Manager. Why? What it all boils down to is; she wants a reaction. The GM will jump to and work her butt off as soon as her job is threatened to her face (which I gather is every couple of months). But this has been going on weekly for the past month and a half. We must toe the line and get everything that would usually take 10 people done, but with only 5, sometimes 6. hours have been cut, so now we are even shorter staffed. I have been working there for over a year. My review? Never happened. It slipped thru the cracks of the GM's brain while she was worrying about her job. My raise? yup: never happened.

-I will have the opportunity to enjoy that which many people go thru in life: Wisdom Teeth Removal. Oh joy and rapture. I hate being put under, but I really don't want to be conscious while they're cranking my jaw open and trying to stuff as many hands and instruments in there as possible (and a tennis ball for good measure). My GM doesn't even want to give me more than a couple days off. Ha... I will have some time off and I will use some of that PTO, and there isn't a whole lot she can do about it... The day of Fun and Adventure gets to take place on the 21st, so it looks like it may be Thanksgiving from a blender for me. Weee :-D

-On my way to Resurrection last week, my car crapped out on me. It had been acting a little odd, but when I checked my battery, I found a little corrosion. After that was all cleaned out, it worked like a dream, so I thought nothing of it. Ha. Silly me. I never made it to Res and spent the night with a friend of mine up from Mass. I looked at the clock, thought about it a little and said "Hey, the grocery store is still open... and they sell beer..." So we spent the night with Woodchucks, Bass and the movie Stardust

-My uncle was rushed to the hospital with appendicitis a couple days ago. After getting there, they put him on some antibiotics and pain meds. His wife (who had thrown her back out a couple days previously) was taking care of the kids at some school thing, so the family met at the hospital where our grandparents took the kids so she could set everything up with the hospital. Who then forgot to give him his next dose of pain meds. It took 12 hours for him to get into surgery and according to the Dr. he barely made it in time before the appendix popped. Then after surgery, they forgot to put him in a room, so he was missing for a while... yippee.

-NEWSFLASH! I AM 14 AGAIN!
My lovely mother (grumble grumble) has apparently decided that I am 14 years old again. I cannot make my own decisions for my own stupid, logical reasons. I cannot manage my $ by myself. she damned near set a curfew on me. Unless I am mistaken, I am in my mid 20's and lived on my own for several years... When we got the apartment together, it was with the understanding that it was a "roommate situation, not a mother/daughter situation". Ha.  When my car crapped out, I figured I needed it towed. Instead of having t towed at 8 pm to a place where there was no one to receive it, I opted to do it this morning. I also still had 2 hours of driving left as of 8 pm last night, I didn't want to wait for AAA for 1-2 hours before being able to set out. How... childish? After I got home around 11:30 (I waited to come home until i knew she would be in bed) I found a note she had left me. 3  1/2 pages worth of nasty, down-talking note about how I have "priority issues" because I didn't do what she told me to do when she told me to do it.  Now, I had my car towed this morning after the garage was open so I could actually leave my key and instructions, numbers, etc. where the mechanic would actually be able to find them. She also mentioned the exact dollar amount in my checking account. Wait... how did she know that? Because she has been accessing my bank account. By phone. While there was a password on  it, she has been saying that she "forgot" the password, and by knowing all my personal info, has been able to circumvent it. So I got to spend 20-30 minutes in the bank today explaining what has happened and setting all kinds of fun security measures, including a new password, alerts on my account and I now require a photo ID to access my own account if I don't have the password.  Joy

-Oh, and my car? It was the starter that crapped out, so I just got to blow $300 to get my car back and running again. But at least I have my car!!!
