By the time everything is said and done and the ride actually stops, she'd been off and down the exit faster than her friend could even keep up. You couldn't say that you were surprised though. The more you'd time you'd mulled over your thoughts the more you started to think that maybe...just maybe you'd overdone it. Too much all at once.
"Too much loverboy?"
"Oh fuck a pineapple..."
"Hey now...calm down..."
You're quiet for a long time. "It was too much wasn't it."
Simon shrugs. "You'll find out won't you."
You let out a deep sigh because you really do feel that you'd already fucked up your chances and instead of coming off even a little charming you'd actually managed to be creepy. Well fuck...

By the time everything shuts down, the crowds gone and every light turned off for the night, its a little after midnight and despite being tired from the heat you can't deny that a shower is necessary and no longer optional. Thankfully this particular sight had allowed the use of hook ups for those of you that were lucky enough to be able to take advantage of it, and once again you are thankful you'd saved what you could and gotten this. You make your way back to the bathroom before sliding your belt off and pulling your wallet, keys and phone out of your pockets and tossing them into the sink before getting into the shower and stripping off your clothes. It was more like peeling them off actually after how hot it's been and you can literally feel the filth, you let everything lay on the floor of the shower before you turn it on and stand there. It's a blast of cold that you not only welcome but savor happily until it warms up a little, once you realize you can't just stand there all night you start to scrub every inch of yourself until you feel that the ick of the carnival is off you for a short time, once you get satisfied with that you pick up your shirt and start to wash it as well. It's mindless really and after a few minutes you let your mind wonder, as sad as it all sounds you find yourself wondering what the odds of her coming back were, she'd looked utterly embarrassed and shocked and that wasn't a normal reaction for a chick that wasn't interested in the least. You put your shirt over the top of the shower and start in on your shorts, remembering earlier that day when you'd actually had your hands on her. Jesus god, you'd been such a good guy the last handful of years, that included doing shit like that but there was something different about this. You still couldn't put a finger on it and while it bothered you, you wanted to be positive for once and say that maybe it was just that it was meant to be. You chuckle to yourself and toss your shorts over the shirt before picking up your boxers and making short work of them. You suppose this is really no different than meeting someone randomly at a store, bank, restaurant, anywhere else...it was instant physical attraction and you were still hoping that you would get the chance to see if her personality was as good looking as the rest of her.

The next day isn't any cooler really, as a matter of fact what little breeze there is is so warm it would be better if there was none at all. It's days like this that you wish you didn't have to wear the company's shirt...or wear proper pants for that matter, there were a pair of lightweight shorts back at your camper that would have been much more comfortable than the denim you had on. Simon had been pulled away to work a ride down the way so you were on your own tonight and you were fine with that, it was a weekday and that meant that the rides were not very busy...at least until tomorrow and the upcoming weekend, Pogo would probably have at least two people per large ride...but for right now business was steady at best with enough people in line to keep your baby running for now. Tobbe's ride had been silent most of the morning and was just now starting to run off and on depending on how many people were interested, Simon's was running about how yours was and Aksel and Martin's rides were running maybe about every fifteen or so minutes when they had enough. You had no idea what you were even listening too anymore, it was the daytime playlist and it got updated every few weeks to keep up with what was on the radio, so there were a handful of younger adults that were dancing or singing along with it while they waited and it makes you smile a bit. You carry on for most of your day in a relatively calm pace and to be honest you feel quite proud of the fact that you hadn't thought about Sky much today...Simon had helped a little by texting you a majority of your day and now that the sun was starting to go down things were picking up pretty quickly. You're used to it though, it's second nature to you after so long and you make the wait in line as entertaining as you can while making sure everything is in running order. There are a few teenagers that have to be asked to leave but other than that nothing too exciting happens, you go through the motions of checking everyone's safety bars before heading back to the folding chair in the corner and getting comfortable before you start the thing up. You watch it for a few seconds before you dig your phone out and see a few missed messages from Simon, you go back through them and cock your eyebrow at them.
Good luck tonight ;o, Behave yourself.
You readjust your foot on the pedal so you don't let up on it before leaning back in the chair and typing him a response.
What the actual fuck?
Just don't be creepy.
whatever...
You put your phone back in your pocket and lean your head back against the railing watching the ride, you're always looking for anything that might be wrong with it but because you give a shit it rarely breaks down, if it did it was money out of your pocket that had to fix it usually, and fuck if that was going to happen. After about three or five minutes you kill the key and watch the arms loose momentum until they are barely moving, when you see them mostly still you take your foot off the pedal and hit the release on the shoulder bars. You stand up when most of the kids have gotten off and start letting others on, watching the number as closely as you can to make sure you're not overloading or underloading. Once you start getting close to the max number of riders you close the gate and start your walk around to check everyone, once thats over you go back to your little corner but you pause for a few seconds before you sit on the chair. You go through your normal motions of pressing your foot down and turning the key and once it starts up and builds up the momentum it needs you carefully switch your feet so that you can face the small alcove that is beside the platform. It's the area between the ramp for the line and where the corner with the controls is and its pretty dark in that area but that doesn't stop you from catching a glimpse of red that is oh so familiar in your mind.

______________

You'd told Ryan that you weren't feeling well, which he'd picked up on your bullshit the minute you called him but didn't say anything thankfully. Yesterday had been embarrassing and you'd rushed off so quickly with your mind spinning that you weren't able to think clearly. When Ryan had dropped you off at home you'd gone upstairs and taken a shower, afterwards you'd lay in bed staring at your ceiling trying to process whatever thoughts were going through your head. You hated when Ryan was right...and you couldn't sit there and say that there was nothing whatsoever in the way of feelings. At least on a physical level. If you were judging simply by looks alone then Ryan was right again...why wouldn't you let someone as good looking make you feel good for a night? You'd never had a fling before though, and it was the farthest thing from your mind because it just wasn't you...so why was there this feeling you had around this guy...someone you didn't even know and would probably never see again once the week was done. After an hour of laying in bed with circling thoughts you get up and start to clean your bedroom, it's not calming you though, it just makes you more on edge and it leaves you not knowing what to do. You remember him saying that he wanted to get to know the shy girl...and an even bigger part of your logical and realistic brain was screaming at you about how he's probably said that a million times to a million different girls...but dammit if the way he said it made you feel fuzzy on the inside. That was probably why you'd come out here tonight...without Ryan. It was still hot as hell even after the sun had gone down and so it had been another day of shorts though you'd assumed that once the sun went down things would cool a bit so you were wearing a lightweight t-shirt.

You work most days and so it's always a treat to wear one of the shirts you'd collected over the years, Ryan always said that you had way to many shirts and movies than you had time to actually enjoy them. You had been walking along without a real plan in mind and it had been like a sudden slap to the face when your therapist's words came back to you and it makes you groan inwardly at how much Ryan is like her. Both of them always were telling you to stop thinking about things but neither of them really understood how hard that was. You grab a few drinks along the way and as you come to a fork in the path you have to decide where to go. Do you keep walking around and avoiding what you came here to do, or do you just do it and get it over with. You stand there for what seems like forever before you look at the other bottle of water and sigh before you wander down the path to your right.

When you get to the area where the rides are, you can clearly see that some rides aren't as busy as others and as you start what feels like a dead man's walk down the row you look ahead at where his ride was. It's not terribly busy nor is it dead...there is a steady amount of people in line and despite working by himself he's moving them through pretty quickly. You don't realize it at first but as you get closer you realize that the corner of your mouth is turned up a little and as soon as you realize it you frown and find yourself slipping around behind the line and into the small area beside it without being seen by anyone. You can't help but berate yourself for acting like you are so you stand there in the dark for a while until you can build up your courage to step this far out of your comfort zone. You put your water against your cheeks and will yourself to calm down because this is no reason to have an attack...its one guy...you just want to talk...but dear god what would you even talk about? Before you get the chance to go off on that tangent you get interrupted.
"Thought you were going to avoid me Red."
He's not shouting though his voice carries over the noise around you and you turn around slowly like you've been caught doing something you shouldn't have been. You literally can't speak.
"I don't think we got off on the right foot yesterday did we."
You shake your head but still haven't said anything...
"You riding tonight?"
"No..."
You see him give you that small half smile before he looks back at the ride for a few seconds. "Tell you what...when this is over you come up the back there..." He points to where the exit is. "and we can talk." There is no way that he doesn't sense the uneasiness you're putting off. "If you want that is. I understand I seem a little creepy."
"I'd like that actually." It's not a lie.
He just smiles at you before he turns back to the ride and starts the process of stopping it.

Once it stops, you watch him stand up and without missing a beat he motions to you to go ahead so you do, although you feel nervous about it for some reason. When you get through you step aside to let people go by you to get seated, some of the older riders are giving you strange looks but you decide to try and ignore it as you meander your way over to where the controls were. It's only when you see the line with some faces looking at you strangely that you start to feel your stomach turn over so you turn your back to it to try and get it out of your mind. You hear a few of them behind you shouting out why it was you got to be up there, and its hard not to just go back out the exit and abort this whole thing but before you feel that you can't anymore you see him come back around the end and come over to the chair to sit down. Strangely enough him just sitting there seems to quiet people in the line and after he gets things running he looks over at you and tells you you can sit, you do and after some shifting you get comfortable and sit in silence. This was what you were afraid of though, what the fuck would you even talk about with him, you knew nothing about him.
"Nice shirt."
"What?"
"Nice shirt...have you seen it?"
You look down at your shirt because honestly you'd forgotten what you'd even put on. It's a black shirt with original title of Deep Red on it...no one ever knew what it was even so you slowly look up at him with a strange expression. "Yeah...why would I wear something if i've not seen it."
He shrugs. "Lot's of people do it."
"Have you seen it?"
"I have it."
You can't help the small smile that spreads slowly...maybe you two did have something to talk about. "Bullshit."
"I can show you but that would mean taking you back to my place...and I don't want you to get the wrong idea." He sounds serious but his small smile gives him away.
Suddenly it doesn't feel nearly as awkward as it had yesterday and you can feel your shoulders relax a little. "Oh...I brought this for you if you want it."
He looks over at you as you offer him a bottle of water and he takes it before nodding at you. "I appreciate that a lot...don't get many people that do that..."
"It's hot as hell out..."
He shrugs. "I'm used to it though, regardless, thank you."
"No problem..." You pause for a few seconds. "So...you know my name but what do I call you? If we're going to talk I think I should know your name."
"That is a fair point, the name is Linton but...for someone as nice as you, you can call me whatever you want."
"That's a nice name...why would I call you something different?"
"If you like it then you can say it."
It's only been maybe five minutes but already you feel a lot more at ease than you did before, you watch him turn the key and let the rid come to a stop. You stay where you are and watch him let the next bunch of people on, walking around and checking everyone before coming back to his chair and doing the whole thing over again. When it seems he's gotten everything going for now you look over at him.
"So...what else have you seen...."
"Shit...you name it i've probably seen it."
"Bodysnatchers?"
He looks at you with a cocked brow. "Come on...give me something hard."
"Ok..." You put your water bottle against your head and try to think back to all of the movies you've seen...trying to remember some of the more obscure ones that people didn't readily know. "AH! Love Me Deadly."
"Never...again."
You can't help but laugh at the look he's giving you.
"You don't strike me as a necrophilia kind of girl."
You frown and shake your head. "I prefer living guys..."
"Good news for me then isn't it."
You both chuckle and before long you watch him go through the motions of loading again before he sits back down.
'So what was all that yesterday?"
"All what?"
You pause, suddenly you're questioning if you'd misread something and you chew on you bottom lip a bit before you answer. "The music...the staring..."
He smiles a little but it seems sad. "I know that it all came off a bit creepy didn't it."
"Maybe a little..." You shrug.
"I'm sorry if I freaked you out."
"It's ok...now that i've been talking with you a little, you don't seem nearly as creepy."
"I'm not...I maybe just lost my head a little..." He trails off and you tilt your head at him.
"Because?"
"Well...it might be a bit too forward."
You sigh and shake your head. "I'm curious now."
He chuckles. "I saw something I liked...don't see that very much anymore." He scratches at his head a little. "I mean no offense when I say this but, you're fucking gorgeous."
"Yeah yeah...I bet you use that line on every girl that's caught your eye."
"No ma'am, there have only been maybe one or two that i've genuinely complimented as being that pretty."
"Sure....thank you anyway though." You give him a small smile and he returns it before looking back up at the ride. You want so badly to believe him but you know better.
He gets up and loads the next group before coming to rest at the panel again.
"So...a fellow horror fan eh?"
It's not lost on you that he's changing the subject but you can't help the smirk on your face. "You have no idea."
"Do you have a favorite?"
"Not really..I have ones I like more than others though I suppose. What about you?"
"Love them all...though admittedly I haven't been able to get into the whole torture genre, I think that's my line."
"Oh I feel you on that...I can't..."
You both laugh and in an instant it feels like you've known hi for years...not a couple of days.

You both go on like that until Linton's trips to the loading gate get fewer and fewer and finally he's sitting on the platform with you. The discussion veered slightly into music territory and somehow you aren't surprised when you find out his tastes are also all over the place. It isn't too long after that he gets a sad smile on his face and you look at him curiously.
"What's wrong?"
"It's time to close up."
"Shit! It's that late?"
He laughs before standing up and offering you a hand, which you take without hesitation. "I can walk you out if you'd like...or you can stay over." He chuckles again and you can feel your face heat up a little. You want to accept the latter offer more than anything but you don't...even if you'd told yourself that you'd not turn down an offer from this man, it just didn't feel right.
"I'd appreciate the walk..."
"As you wish."
You giggle...you actually fucking giggle. "Calm down Wesley."
He doesn't answer you but he does smile fully before turning and flipping a switch on the panel and suddenly all the lights on his ride go out, when he turns back around he offers you a hand again, and again you take it.

He leads you to the exit in a comfortable silence but as you near the gate you start to go over the night you'd had with him in your head. You'd never clicked with anyone this quickly before...or at all for that matter, and honestly it scared you a little. For some reason , all the guys you'd dated in the past had been taken aback by your love of horror and things that were otherwise considered a little dark. But not him, Not only had Linton showed an interest in what you talked about he actively encouraged you to talk about it with no sign of disgust or judgement. He seemed genuinely nice if not a bit shy even...with a love or horror and music...AND he wasn't hard o the eyes in the least...where the fuck had this man been this whole time? Once at the gate, you both stand there a bit awkwardly, he looks like he wants to say or do something but continues to stand there and you are still in a bit of shock at the small realization you'd had on the walk here.
"What are you doing after close tomorrow?" It comes out quickly and a lot high pitched than you would've liked...he looks at you for a long moment before the corner of his mouth turns up slightly.
"Nothing that I know of...why?"
"I would really like to hang out with you again...it was fun." It's not even remotely a lie.
"I agree...Kind of wish you didn't have to go...but I get it."
"Same...but I mean, this feels crazy already. I've known you like...maybe two days total."
"Feels like a lot longer though doesn't it."
"Yeah..."
He still keeps looking like he wants to say something else but he keeps still "So...if you're not coming out tomorrow during the day, drop by this entrance around 9 or 10. We'll be closing up a little early before the weekend starts."
You nod and smile and before you can talk yourself out of it or even think it through entirely you close the distance between the two of you and give his cheek a small kiss. You turn and walk away before you or he have a chance to react to it and you don't even know if he's smiling or not.

You were a bit stunned, you weren't going to lie. If that had been an actual threat to your life you would be dead right now, it had taken you by surprise. By the time you manage to collect yourself and head back home you're surprised again, only this time because Simon is sitting outside of your small home looking bored as hell. You don't get the chance to ask him what the hell he's doing before he pushes himself out of the chair and walks over to you, stealing your keys and letting himself inside. You follow him inside and close the door before turning on some lights to see where you're going. Simon makes himself comfortable on your couch before looking at you expectantly.
"Spill."
"Spill what exactly?"
"I saw you walking with her."
"Nothing much happened, we talked. That's it."
He looks at you for a long time, like he doesn't believe you so you turn to face him with your hands on your hips. "Do you want me to show you my boner as proof that nothing happened or what?" It wasn't like it was hard to see and you'd had it for a while now.
He leans forward, elbows on his knees when you turn and busy yourself with getting something to drink.
"You weren't creepy were you? Was she creepy?"
"No, I wasn't creepy...I apologized for acting that way though, and if by creepy you mean awesome as fuck then yes she was creepy as hell."
"Awww...its cute."
"Get the fuck out of here, we have an early morning tomorrow..."
Simon snorts but gets up, putting your keys on the counter. "When are you going to make a move?"
"Get out."
He sighs and turns heading towards the door before tossing you a 'goodnight' and leaving.

Once you're alone you move over and sit heavily on the couch, sadly Simon's distractions did nothing to take your mind off of the painful tightness of your shorts. You debate if you really should do what you're thinking about or if it would be weird to do it, ultimately though, this rager isn't going anywhere anytime soon unless you fix it yourself so you pull yourself up and head to the bathroom. You peel your clothes off like you do every night and kick them off into the corner of the bathroom before going into the shower and turning the water on, you've never forgotten how thankful you are that running water was a thing at this town, not many grounds had it so you enjoyed every minute. The water is lukewarm at best but you're not about to bitch, it feels better than boiling and even better than ice cubes. You stand there for what feels like an eternity letting the water soak through you and its hard to keep your mind from going over the night you'd had. It bothered you that you've only known this girl for a few days and that was a stretch to say you knew her...but honestly it all felt so easy with her that you didn't think twice about letting her sit up with you.You were attracted to her both physically and after today you were intrigued by her interests...you wanted to know more about her. Most girls that had ever approached you had done so because you were willing to not ask questions and give them a night of fun...no strings, no romance, no interest other than getting off, no one had ever really caught your interest until now and it was an entirely new thing to you. It had always been sexual in one way or another, especially when you'd been younger, and farnkly up until you were close to thirty you'd have bedded her by now. Once you'd hit thirty though, it had lost its appeal, and aside from a handful of girl that offered to go down on you here and there you hadn't really bothered with chasing ass anymore. It was mostly like this though, standing in the shower with your hand around your cock.

Admittedly, even though you initially found her attractive because of her body...and that was a very big reason you'd wanted to get to know her better...after the talk you'd had with her that night had you more turned on than you thought it could. Aside from how utterly fucking awesome she was...it isn't hard for your mind to wander from her personality to her looks, and you put your head against the wall when you feel yourself twitch in your hand, reminding you of just how painful it is right now. It's not hard to imagine what she'd look like on her knees, or with her lips around you, of course that train of thought leads down a rabbit hole of other thoughts. The more you think about her like that the faster you move your hand over yourself and when the thought of what she'd feel like around you or what she'd even taste like makes you shudder. It surprises you when you cum and you groan at the release while your leave your head against the wall letting those last shudders climb up your spine. You feel a small amount of shame at what you'd done but you quickly push it out of your mind and wonder more importantly, how the fuck were you going to get through a night with her.

When you wake up the next morning, you're up quickly despite being hellaciously tired. You hadn't gotten to bed at a decent time and honestly, jacking off in the shower hadn't helped you get to sleep any faster. Your thoughts had still been swirling around and you wanted to try ad make sense of them. There were feelings there...even if they were fast and had come out of nowhere, but how serious were those feelings, and if they were serious what the hell were you going to do. The best case scenario for all of this was that you could maybe see her when your company was close to this city, but otherwise it would be a long distance thing and those almost never worked. You needed to know also what her thoughts were, there was a real possibility that despite the fact she'd talked with you and hung out with you that all she wanted was sex...which you wouldn't turn down of course. The fact that you were actually looking forward to tonight was an odd feeling in and of itself. You slide to the end of your bed and stand up stepping into the bathroom and sighing when you see that you'd forgotten to wash your clothes last night, you pick them up and after some inspection you deem them appropriate to wear again though you simply refuse to wear the same boxers...you'll have to go without today. You idly wonder if there is a Laundromat that is open late in this town, because dammit you really needed to get some laundry done, you make a mental note to ask Skylar when you see her again, if she decides she's coming of course...there was always the possibility of her not coming because she'd come to her senses, but you try not to dwell on it as you grab your keys and put them in your pocket before heading outside.

It's just starting to get light out and you can see everyone buzzing around the little camp of trailers and tents, you see Tobbe and Martin talking next to the bunkhouse, each of them holding onto their coffee like it's the most precious thing on earth. You know everyone was told to be up early but you didn't see why, you always came to this town around a holiday and because of the way their school system was the kids had a three day weekend, which meant that the weekend was where the money would be made, and the last day of the actual fair would be on that holiday, unfortunately most of the rides would be getting packed up that day. This town's schools were messed up. You walk over to where your two friends are and make an effort to not let creeping thoughts of Sky not showing up get to you, you're still a bit skeptical but you can hope, you just have to keep your mind off it.
