I felt the same about this movie as I did for Star Trek Nemesis. It had all the right people in it but it just did not fit. I liked it enough that I would watch it if it was on HBO but I would not pay money for it again. Did ya catch the name on Mulders phone when he was getting ready to call Scully after his car was forced off the road. It said Gillian.
I have been an X-files fan from the begining but this movie just did not have the X-Files feel. If they were trying to make a stand alone film they succeeded.......... Went to the opening night 8:55 show on a Friday and there were 15 people in the theater. Not a resounding turnout.
Actually, it wasn't that bad. I'm just relieved at one thing: after what happened in "The Truth", the series finale of the X-Files, I really thought Skinner and Kirch were dead. I thought Toothpick Man and his compatriots were out to kill them, for letting Mulder free, but, fortunately, it didn't happen that way. In fact, Skinner is still considered "high" ranking, according to the last movie, so I can only hope Kirch is still alive and around. Still, though, I'd rather see Fox back in the FBI, than being a bum, sitting in a room, surfing Internet porn.
Yeah I always thought that Skinner was alive for some reason and when I did some investigating and saw the clues that he would be back and in the movie,I really wasn't that surprised but his interaction with Scully and Mulder was still weird. Why would Scully just call him up and than boom he was there and than he was gone. They just kind of dropped him in the movie to just please the fans. His arrival was a lil forced in the movie I think. There is talk about a third movie, we will see. I heard that David Said that he would not do another if this movie did not do well at the box office. Over all I was still disappointed. I think that Kirch will be brought back if they do a third film. I agree about the Mulder Bum thing.
