Gah, I wish I'd gotten a picture!
Sumner, my sad little marble, just flared for the first time!
I didn't get a picture, and I'm afraid to show him the Evil Pen Cap again, because he still looks quite agitated by it, and I don't want to stress him out too much.
My tanks are on my desk, and I noticed one day that Bu really, really hates the black cap on the ends of my pens. I think he thinks it's another betta with a black mask? He flares more for it than he even did my other fish. I was making him flare today when I finally thought to show it to Sumner, and he FLARED.
The edges of his gill covers are iridescent, so it was a shiny flare at that. And I'd never owned a fish with translucent fins before. Sumner has this little clear beard!! It's adorable.
He doesn't have his head all puffed up now, but he's still agg patrolling like there's some active threat. Aiieee. Does that sound normal?
