You guys. Getting a Phd is a really big deal. And deciding whether to get an MA or Phd--or even whether you want to work in the field you're thinking about or not--is really hard. And I have no idea what I'm doing ( Read more... )

My general impression is that PhD programs are generally aimed at very technical or academic careers, while masters programs are more about developing a specific set of practical skills. I have also heard that PhD programs tend to offer more funding, though I’m sure this varies significantly by field. You’d be giving more back in terms of research or teaching or whatever, and there just aren’t as many PhD students. So in some cases it might be more feasible financially, even though it’s more time ( ... )
