I follow what creationists say on YouTube quite closely since I find it an endless source of amusement. One of their main themes is that no lab work has ever produced artificial life which they take as evidence that life cannot have arisen by natural means and therefore require magic (though they don't phrase it that way). No one has ever made a construct from scratch that remotely functions like a cell! Perhaps you'd like to leave a link.

Thank you. I can't read the second because it's behind a pay-wall, but in the first they haven't in any way 'made a construct that fully functions as a cell' because they are relying on livings systems in what they are doing, not to mention that this is a guided process throughout rather than anything resembling abiogenesis (which cannot aim toward any end). So totally irrelevant to the main argument.

I never said that they replicated abiogenesis. What they did was design a new life form decided the minimal necessary DNA for it to function? What did you expect that they would start by designing and entirely new system of genetics that uses something besides DNA?
