A Funny CoE Day 4 Macro... No, really...

Dec 12, 2009 07:03

First off, Children of Earth hit me like a punch to the kidneys, and RTD needs to get a tougher skin. Having spent three years in Architecture school, I am amused by folks in creative fields that don't accept that critiques are part of the biz ( Read more... )

Yay!

Once it popped into my head, I couldn't not see it. At first I had Ianto saying it, but it then realized that it sounded like something Jack would say, followed by mentioning a one night stand with Jean Cocteau or something...

I know. Many folks have accused RTD of writing CoE to "de-gay" Torchwood, but I wonder if he went to the Sensation exhibition back in the day and came away unimpressed.

Honestly, I don't think he would have known enough to go to such a thing......and if he had, would he have been able to form an opinion??
Can you see that I have not forgiven him??
Nor shall I??
Great Macro though, I don't "get" Damien, either, never have, in fact you can add the last ten Turner prize winners to what I don't get.......

The thing that disappoints me about the Turner prize is that I have yet to hear about a fight breaking out at the awards ceremony, which in my opinion would be really fun to watch; I could bring popcorn and say I am part of the act.

I find Hirst's The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living really interesting since I have the "oh ick... hey that's kind of cool!" reaction to it, and it reminds me a bit of the Memento Mori theme in art. However, I also realize that I might be giving him too much credit. That, and I am glad that I don't work in a museum where I'd be responsible for taking care of it in the event it sprang a leak. ;-) Getting covered in stinky carcinogenic mess is not a great way to start one's day!

Re: CoE. Even now I find myself torn between grudging admiration of RTD for making raw, serious SF, and wondering if he's fallen into the True Art is Angsty cliché. Seeing Ianto dying as a result of Jack's big mouth, Gwen having to soldier on after massive loss, and Jack facing billions of years of ( ... )

I am still lolling when I think of it.

It might be because I keep screaming "TIGER SHARK!" when I look at it.
