Summary: It’s your first day at a new school, in a country you’ve only heard about in History class. Can you really fit in this place when you’re only a “Foreigner”?
A/N: Did anyone else notice in SujuM's Me music video, when they were moving the letters around, Siwon-oppa moved letters by himself, while everyone else dragged letters with at least one other person.
You've been mocked by a delinquent, bitched at by a woman you could WELL beat up, and now dragged down the hall by some jail-bait boy who reeks of strawberries and has more pink on than you've ever seen in your life. And this...Is all in your first day, is it always like this for new kids in South Korea??? You're in the middle of listing a library full of complaints about this place and what's wrong with this country until your face is introduced to a plaster colored wall.
“What on earth....Sungmin????” You turn around gingerly holding your nose only to be met with Sungmin trying to hide his laughter from you.
“You were supposed to stop silly, I let go of your hand awhile back. If I knew you would have kept running, I wouldn’t have let go.” Finally, thinking its safe to, he removed his hand from his mouth and started openly laughing. Your cheeks flushed a light rose reliazing your embarrasing mistake. Then, Sungmin pulled you closer to him and placed a kiss atop your forehead. "There! All better now!" He can NOT be for real, no one would dare even hug you back when you were in America! And now, a cute guy, a real cute guy, kissed you (on the forehead, BUT STILL!), you looked into his eyes, they were nearly a ebony black, shinging like the north star,
mezmorized, you leaned in closer toward him.
"___?....____? Are you okay? Should I take you to the nurse instead of class?" Sungmin squeaked, his voice got smaller as it filled with worry.
"Hm? Oh! I, yeah, I'm fine, nothing to worry about!" You quickly flashed a smile and broke away. "So, where is our classroom, again?" Sungmin straigthend up and smiled brightly again. This time, he held your hand and guided you to a sliding door to your left. You were about to reach for the handle...But there was none. Confused, you looked up and down the side for a door knob or even a door handle. Quickly, you looked to the other side of the door, but there wasn't anything there either! Finally in small desperation, you looked back over to Sungmin. "The door handle, where is it?????"
"Door....Hand-Oh! We don't have any, it's like that for a lot of schools here. Or at least the public schools." Sungmin explained as he caught on. He then moved his arm in front of yours and pulled on the side of the door, making it slide, to reveal your new classmates and teacher. You and Sungmin walked right in the middle of what seemed to be a lesson, the teacher was talking about the laws of physics before he turned his head at you both and frowned.
"Sungmin-ah, is there a problem? I thought you said you were changing classes." he questioned. He didnt mean to insult Sungmin, but the whole class giggling and whispering as an embarrased Sungmin tried to answer. His head was down so far no one could see his eyes as his bangs fell a little forward.
"Actually, I ran into him at the office, so he decided to show me where my class was." You blurted out all to soon. If you were ignored by anyone at all before, you certainly weren't now. All eyes were on you, some in disbelief, others in disgust. The whispers soon grew louder and you could even hear some remarks your obvious foreigner air about you. You took a step back in attempts to shrink and become invisible. The teacher's harsh expression immediately grew brighter as he turned his attention to you.
"Ah! You must be the new student, it's wonderful to have you here ____, you're seat is right over there, left of Siwon-ah." he pointed at the empty seat next to the horse from earlier. Siwon was smiling just as brightly as the teacher as he gestured his hands a bit to show where he was. You looked back at Sungmin, half-worried about him, and half-afraid your new classmates would eat you alive. But Sungmin just nodded and smiled sweetly for encourgament. Reluctantly, you moved to your seat and placed your messanger bag under you desk to sit down. The rest of the class before lunch went smoothly, you discovered your teacher was called Lee Minho, but for some weird reason, he preffered to be called 'Boom' instead. Once the bell rang, you were able to gain some friends besides Sungmin in your class: The guy who always kept his nose in a book was Kibum, the girl with blonde hair and black ends was Jessica, the girl who constantly talked with Jessica was Taeyon, and the slightly overweight guy who was trying oh-so-hard to not get caught stealing glances at the girls was Shingdong. Kibum then offered for you to sit with them at a table during lunch. Sitting at a small table with Siwon you all were chatting about America, although it was more people were asking you questions about it.
"So there really are people who don't believe in God there???" Siwon exclaimed in horror and disbelief. His eyebrows scrunched as he tried to wrap his mind around the concept.
"Siwon-sshi, there aren't people in SOUTH KOREA that don't believe in God", retorted Jessica as she rolled her eyes. Siwon's eyebrows probably raised three inches as his eyes became big as saucers as he, once more, tried to wrap his mind around the concept.
"Jessica, no need to be so blunt about it, if you don't tread lightly, this preacher's son is going to start teaching us the gospel." Taeyon joked as she lightly punched Jessica in the arm. Shingdong was too busy eating a small bag of chips to notice someone was coming up behind him.
"CHOI SIWON. I demand an explanation for why you are eating with these people instead of me and Hangeng!" Oh god, it was the Prima Dona again. All eyes went up to a very mad Heechul with his hands on his hips. Siwon looked at Heechul calmly before speaking.
"Hyung, I just thought to make sure ____ felt welcomed around here in the new school, but I don't think you would know that since you decided to skip again." Siwon pointed out. Heechul flashed a surprised expression before going back at scolding Siwon.
"Well, it was with good reason, now you, come. Hangeng's going to get lonely if we're gone any longer." He remarked, Heechul motioned his hand for Siwon to come over like a master with his dog, and just like a dog, Siwon rose from his seat, bowed politely at the your table and followed Heechul back into the sea of people. Once both were out of sight, Kibum spoke up.
"Ten bucks says Siwon is staying over at Heechul's tonight." He smirked, Shingdong finally put the chips down and grinned before replying.
"Fifteen say Hangeng's going to be there too." The guys erupted in laughter while Taeyon glared over at them.
"Don't be so mean to them, everyone knows that they're just good friends."She took a sip of her tea before finally giving up the conversation. Taeyon grabbed all she brought down and left the cafeteria in a flurry. Jessica looked off as Taeyon before she sighed.
"Aish, I will never understand you tw-oh! There's Kyuhun!" Jessica jumped out of her seat and ran off to wherever she had spotted 'Kyuhun' until she too, disappeared. You looked back at the two guys with 'CONFUSION' imprinted on your face.
"Who is Kyuhun????"
"One of the top gamers, and best singers in this school," Kibum commented "He's considered one of the most attractive guys in this school, but who really cares?"
"The girls do..." Shingdong softly wailed as he reached for his soda. You raised your hand a bit and retorted to him.
"Hello? Girl here, and I don't know who he is." They both looked at each before Shingdong tried to explain.
"OKay, Cho Kyuhun, apparently one of the hottest guys in the school, a damn good singer, and one heck of a gamer. But, in my opinion, those girls should stop going after him, he is interested in someone else."
"Who?" You pressed, Shingdong open his mouth answer but Kibum cut in, laughing a bit.
"Our own little Pink Rabbit, Sungmin-ah. He's another popular guy at this school, you've met him before right? Showed you where the classroom was?"
"And kissed me on my forehead" you mumbled softly, a light blush rose in your cheeks as you remembered the moment you declared to yourself made your day so much better that nothing else could bring you down.
"What?" Kibum questioned, clearly puzzled. You snapped your attention back at the two boys.
"Oh! Nothing! So, then how many popular people are there in this school???"
"A bunch, only because they sing though, no one cares about the brains in the school" Shingdong joked, Kibum elbowed him in the side.
"They don't pay much attention to the dancers EITHER." Shingdong just shrugged, and continued drinking his soda while Kibum was turned his attention back to his book. You started playing with your remaining food, poking experimentally at it. You thought about Heechul for a moment, he was here earlier before class, but why wasn't he in class? The gates were closed after the bell so then that means he had to have still been on the school grounds. Without thinking about it you asked to an invisible audience
"Where do you think Heechul went during class?" Exasperated, Kibum looked up at you once again to speak. Shingdong stopped drinking his soda to listen, but didn't look up.
"Who knows, Heechul is infamous for breaking the school rules, not terribly, but just skipping class, arguing with people, having an attitude, and wearing things out of uniform. He's the practical definition of flower bad boy, and that drives a good sum of girls crazy." you scoffed at the last part and joked sourly.
"Well, he definetly drives me crazy, next time he has to comment about his face, I may as well put myself in an asylum." Kibum smiled for the first time since you've met him. His dimples were just too cute to resist, in an automatic response, you smiled back cutely and tried to look away.
"____, do you get embarrassed easily??" Shingdong implied. He looked at you with warm, but nevertheless, stern eyes.
"Isn't everyone in a new environment?" you snapped defensively. Shingdong hesitated a bit, tying to find the right words.
"I'm not trying to be rude on purpose, I just...urgh, If you need anyone to help you out, you can always look for Kibum and me, as well as some of our friends you haven't met yet. We'll do our best to be there for you." His speech was slow as he says this, with his face getting redder with every syllable. You smiled gratefully at him and hugged both boys with a quiet 'thank you' before you left the caferteria. Almost skipping through the crowd with a happy tune in you head.
Maybe today wouldn't be so bad after all.
