Is it okay for Robert to poke at Daisy anyway? :D;; semper_cogitans June 2 2011, 05:37:10 UTC
[Sometime after the list originally goes up, Daisy might notice a weepy little transmission from the pacifistic scientist who still wants to be her friend.

His voice is shaky and choked with little harsh sobs and in general he sounds like a horrendous mess. She might be able to guess why - after all, she saw Don's name on that list.]

Ms. D-Daisy...

[Haltingly:] I, I-I understand... that, that you are q-quite capable of... of fighting...

...

B-But, but please... Pl-please t-try to stay safe...?

[He's so afraid. Never has he felt like he had so much to lose here, before.]

...

P-perhaps, if, i-if you can... h-help Don...?

I would be... f-forever grateful if, if you could...

[He doesn't want fighting to happen at all. He hates even thinking about it... but if it's going to happen, then... then... maybe Daisy should help Don. Maybe if his friends stick together - fight together - then there won't be as much of a risk.

... He hates that he's able to think that way now.]

[Don is more than Robert's friend. Don is Robert's lover, his co-worker, his protector... his everything.]

H-he, he can... he c-can fight...

... I...

I j-just do not know what to do, a-and... I-I am so useless h-here...

[Even if he could fight, what could he possibly do to protect Don? In these conditions, he would probably die anyway...]

...

[Daisy's words cut through the haze of depression in his mind a little bit. Though it won't stop him from spending much of the time crying, at least it will give him something to do if he can manage the mental fortitude.

He nods a little at her words; he has no real knowledge of strategy, but data he can compile. He can also organize information about the Malnosso, if he can find any.]

... Perhaps... p-perhaps there might even be t-time to take... r-rudimentary samples on the... field? [He doesn't even want to call it a battlefield.] B-but of course, do not... r-risk your life, for that.

...

I w-would appreciate it, Ms. Daisy...

... Th-thank you.

[Robert might not know how much Daisy's oath means to her, but it matters so much to him that she would even make one at all.

He tries to keep his voice from cracking.]

... Be well t-too, Ms. Daisy.

[And then he leaves her to prepare.

They will all need time... and if he can't help out directly, then perhaps... indirectly.]
