[It's a low but obviously feminine voice, familiar to some perhaps.]

Before you new kids ask, no I'm not one of the people that captured you, no I can't let you go, yes I'll answer any questions I can if I feel it's safe to divulge that information. Please keep the death threats to a minimum since you'll just be wasting your breath, it's unlikely ( Read more... )

[The following takes place a few days prior to ANI's entry.]

Gentlemen. A word.

Just planetary welfare, [she mumbles, but lets it go.] What makes you think the Organization will even agree to it?

Come now, you doubt my negotiation skills? They've already agreed.

[She can't keep her eyes from widening at that.] They did.

Wow. Things must be worse than the papers say.

One can only imagine the morale of the local public if they were to explain why they're losing the war.

[She stands and starts to pace.] They have to know that doing this could spark the downfall of the Luceti Project. They have to. Once those advocates learn that the kids are sentient they'll flip their lids.

Then we'll keep them secluded. It won't be difficult; whether they're here or out there, we'll have to keep them contained, regardless. The only difference is they'll be exchanging experimentation for extermination. It's a simple matter, really.

And how long will that last?

...maybe it's time the Project came to an end anyway.

Now now, let's not go overboard. We've made more progress in a single year than in the hundred before it was developed. It's worth keeping. [He smiles, shaking his head.] I think you're getting too attached.

I'm not getting attached, I'm being prudent. You said it yourself; they're better fit as warriors than test subjects. A little longevity shouldn't be the go sign for experimentation, they should be put to better use. After all, if those fanatics were gone then you all wouldn't be in nearly such a hurry to get off this planet, would you?

Most of them are pacifists. They'll be useful for brief stints of battle out of necessity; constant war is not the way to win their cooperation. Besides, they have a dual usage by remaining in the village most of the time.

[She sighs in frustration and sullenly plops her weight down in a desk chair, wings stretching out before folding awkwardly over the back and brushing against the floor.] You're right, as usual. I hate that.

[He smirks, moving to sit on the opposite side of the desk, shuffling through some papers.] Nonsense, you'd rather I be right than those fools running the show outside the barrier.

Well I didn't say it was a matter of preference... [She folds her arms and gives him a stare.] So bring me up to date on what it is exactly I should say to them.

[He's meeting that stare, bb.] Invite them to join the war. Remind them of the past battle, and why it's important to act. Call for the violent ones, I'm sure they'd enjoy this.

Might stop a couple of them from killing each other, at least...

The incentive?
