Happy New Year y'all!

I hope everyone had a great night. ^^ I did, though it was much quieter than I would have liked -- I just want to have a crazy and wild New Years for once -- but it was still lovely. Chinese food, drinks, and movies with sabii. And in bed before 1. We are so cool. XD ( Read more... )

I'm surprised how much books I read this year. This summer, around August, I bought a medium sized bookcase the flat. When I placed the books I've already read, it was half way full (there was space for about another 50 books). Now I look at it and there's space for another 3 books.

These books you've read. Do you think I'd find some at Chapters?

Btw, happy 2006! I hope you drank yourself sick. :)

o_O I'm so jealous! Not only that you have so many books, but also that you have a bookcase. I only have a book cupboard, alas. Perhaps with my new paycheck I'll get something proper to put my collection on. *shrug*

Of course! I'm pretty sure you'd find all at Chapters, actually. Or at least on the website, I'm not too sure about in-store books. And since you have such a collection, any recommendations? Books that I cannot go through life without reading?

Happy New Year! XD

It's alm--I'm too lazy to sign in. I just wanted to say WOW that's a lot of books. I read...two. XD and they were school related. 2004 I read 1 book just for fun! ;) 2003 I actually read three. I don't read as much as I should. I didn't inherit the "I love to read" from my mother. WHich is a shame! I wanted that gene ^_^

Perhaps you can have that gene cloned and then somehow implanted into your system, so then you'll have the constant urge to read...

What? It's possible. XD

Looking at it now, it is quite a big list, eh?

Argh. LJ ate my comment. *officially annoyed*

Anyways. I wasn't going to say anything useful anyway, except...I, too, didn't think that the DaVinci code was that great. Actually, I didn't...have the heart to finish it. *cough* It didn't seem very well paced, and the relationship thrown in at the end was strange. Just me, though.

Have you read Angels and Demons?

(Oh, and love for Sabriel, Hitchhiker's Guide, and Griffin and Sabine!)

*shakes fist at LJ*

THANK YOU! Yet another person that agrees with me. ^^ The only reason I actually finished it was because I thought that at some point it must get better, because otherwise what is all the hype about? It didn't get better, obviously. XD And yeah, the whole development of the relationship was near non-existant. I remember there being two parts in the book that prompted me to believe they'd get together at the end, but they were the most inconsequential things. Like at one point the guy (can't remember his name, it's not important anyway) leans over her, and he's all, "oooh, I'm so close to her, this makes me feel funny". And then at another point he like, "well, she's actually quite pleasant to be around". And then at the end they're both all, "let's get married and have babies!" ...Well, not quite. But you know what I'm saying right? It went from nothing to something huge in a second. Bothersome, indeed. Character development left much to be desired as well. And the clues were so easy that I kept figuring them out ( ... )

XDD No, you can go on if you want. It was the same thing that bothered me. That and the fact that their wild goose chase hardly had any calmer moments, and things happened in such a short period. Oh and how Indiana Jones their search really seemed... XDD

Yes, it's by the same author. DaVinci code is supposedly the better book, though.

Indeed. It was always go, go, go.

One of the guys at work asked who had read it because he was about half-way through. I said flat out that it sucked, hah. But he really likes it for some reason, so...it's all personal tastes, eh?

After reading DaVinci code though, reading another book by the same author has no appeal to me. *shrug* Have you read it?
