I'm upset that Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides is now a part of the Oprah book club.

I mean, I understand why; it's a great book! But I'm annoyed by the fact that whenever I do get around to buying it -- because I want it for my own library collection -- that it will have a giant OPRAH'S BOOKCLUB stamp on it.

Oprah, must you leave your mark on

How old is it? Maybe you can find a pre-Oprah copy at a used book store or something?

I don't buy used books. So that won't work. :)

Pfffft. Too good for a few questionable stains? :p

I love used books, myself, but to each their own.

Really? This is awesome news, thank you! And yes, I'm being picky. And second, that is one of the very few times that I have ever been called Kris...fantastic! :)

So I just read your post on our friendly neighborhood under-the-counter community, and it made me think: I don't know any girls from Canadia named Kris. Perhaps you can fix this?

I'm Jon. I hope you don't mind if I friend you?
