There are certain points in a person's life when you have to come to certain realizations. Realizations that you will never be better than him/her. Realizations that you will never be as pretty as her, or as smart as him, or get paid as much as her, or have as nice a car as him, or be as respected as so and so

i don't think anybody can really be truly open-minded. at least not what people consider as being completely open-minded. many people claim to be, but then you get to know them and you see them in various situations and you realize that they will always have a weak spot in their open-minded facade. because you can say you're an open-minded person, but then if someone says something that isn't necessarily open-minded or "tolerant", most people get defensive and angry. if one were truly open-minded, they would accept even the person who is their opposite. and most people that i've come into contact with, can't always do that, so i don't think that a person can be completely open-minded. we as humans seem to be a bit selective with our open-minded-ness
