yes, games can be addictive, but so can so many other things in life. regarding the issue about children and violent games; these sorts of games have age restrictions and shops shouldn't be selling them to people under those ages thus parents are often the ones to blame when a child does come into contact with such a game as they should be the ones policing their young un's gaming activities. they're also responsible for getting children away from the computer/tv screen and doing a wider variety of tasks, excersiging them physically and mentally.

For example the loss of imaginative play that has occurred within childhood in recent years is immense

some would disagree

rofl, i actually laughed out loud at that :D

and to be honest, i've been a fan of parenting tests for a while. pity its a very "big brother" atitude and goes against everything i believe about human liberty.

True, but its a sad fact of life that some people can't take care of an animal decently, let alone another human being. :(

Wasn't there a guy in Korea who died because he played 47 hours straight?

I hope he didn't die just as he was about to get the final star or something or that'd be really ironic. If you're gonna play for 47 hours and die you'd better at least finish the game lol.

I don't agree that games induce creativity in kids, give a kid a stick or rock and they will have a million avenues in which they can take their imagination, give a kid a computer game and they are already severely restricted in the direction in which they can take things.

Tried to answer the original debate but am a bit too drunk, my general answer is that if you play 47 hours of computer gaming non stop without food or water you deserve to die, get the fuck out of the gene pool!
