It was a hard decision, but I gave my two weeks notice to my program manager this week. While there are aspects of my job as a program associate for an organization that works with the developmentally disabled, mentally retarded, and brain injured that I have enjoyed, I am just not physically fit for the job.

Our campus is located out in the middle of nowhere. There is a cluster of about 11-16 apartments. It's all ground level, no stairs or second floors.
Most of the apartments seem to be just 2-bedroom apartments. Each guy gets his own bedroom, there is a bathroom, a living room and a kitchen.
So, each apartment has a staff person and generally about 2 persons served.
The goal of the place is to try and help the persons served "to develop skills of daily living that help them to progress toward their maximum level of independence and to be able to live in less-restrictive settings."
The apartments are their homes, and the staff members are basically guests in the apartments who help to maintain the appropriate level of supervision, assist the guys as needed with dressing, toileting, taking meds, cooking, cleaning, etc.

Anything that can strengthen your lower back, abdomen and glutes will be good. Also have you considered getting corrective shoes or one of those belts they wear in warehouses? It's like a weightlifter's belt but usually black velcro and plastic.
I know that you're more aware of what's going on with your body, its various aches and pains and quirks but I hope my advice does help.
Plus if you want to lose weight then I'll send you Precision Nutrition and Gourmet Nutrition. Or go to Barnes and Noble and get the Cheat to Lose diet. In short nothing but protein on Sundays, Monday add some carbs, Tuesday add more carbs and by Saturday you're having a normal day where you eat crap or better crap than usual without feeling deprived.
Yes it's going to have you eating lots of meat and protein in addition to having 5 meals a day (3 meals, 2 snacks) but teh_cassius swears by it. I've done it off and on but bad habits are hard to break :3
