Life is Cruel sometimes...

I have been reflecting more as the rain pours down, mostly about the tragedy of the human condition. Although many of us remember the happiest moments of our lives (favorite birthday, becoming engaged/married, holding & hearing your first child for the very first time, etc.) but these moment do little to shape our emotional selves. gone is my father's world of stablity, where a job could last 25 years with good perks and so forth.

now? underemployed, looking for more, and totally learned the corporate lesson within 2-3 years of graduating, that i am a THING to be hired or fired, ground up, used, thrown away when no longer useful (or pissing off the wrong person even for the right reason (politics)).

loyalty is for individuals, rare groups and companies, and certain ideals maybe, but not mega-corporations. it's not jaded, it is unfortunately, realistic and a survival mechanism to know this, or they WILL take advantage.

There was a Wall Street Journal article today where hiring managers were complaining that our generation is full of dilletantes, because of the constant pressure to stay versatile in case of another round of layoffs.
