PERSONALITY;; Eva is a very warm, very loving woman. If she considers you a friend then you can consider yourself well taken care of. She happily spoils those she care about with affection and sweets, especially her sons Dante and Vergil. She has a little bit of a mischievous streak, enjoying getting involved in the occasional prank and enjoying administering a touch of goodhearted teasing.
Eva is also very protective. If she hears someone she cares for is in trouble she'll do her best to help, to the point of being slaughtered by demons in order to save the lives of her children.
But don't think just because Eva is a playful mother hen that she's a pushover. Eva before she lost her husband, it was Eva who ruled the roost.She's as stubborn as she is maternal and she can and will kick your butt if she believes it to be necessary.
HISTORY;; Not much is revealed about Eva in-game. She was the human wife of the Dark Knight Sparda, a demon who turned his back on his own kind to save humankind. She bore him twin sons, Dante and Vergil and she gave them the two halves of the Perfect Amulet their father had used to separate the Demon World from the Human World.
Shortly after she was killed in a demon attack that's implied to have been organized by Mundus, Sparda's former master, when the twins were still young children. It's heavily implied that Eva gave her life to keep her sons safe in the attack. Her death was the turning point that led Dante to hunt demons and Vergil to look to acquire power and embrace his demonic half.
Eva's impact on her youngest son was so strong that Mundus creates the demon Trish in Eva's image in order to lure Dante into a trap. He comments that even though she has Trish's face, she has "none of her fire".

Worried was an understatement.
This place was nice, even nicer than her home, and seemed to be tailored for the comfort of the inhabitants but it didn't settle Eva's mind. Her sons weren't here and she had no way of knowing how they were, if they were okay or hurt or hungry. Their blood was half demon but they were still six year old boys without their mother.
Eva sighed, twisting the wedding band on her left hand. "Be strong and be safe, boys." She spoke softly, half muttering to herself. "I'll be home soon, I promise."
