Ok, so I have some news for those of you that still read here.

Apr 08, 2005 01:43

I haven't been using this journal for a while. Mostly because I started a second one to document a health issue I've been dealing with. I didn't want to discuss it here because I know that there are some no-longer-friends-with-me people that read this journal. I didn't want them to know my business, and i didn't want to censor myself ( Read more... )

Good luck! My dad had that. And, having seen what happened to him, all I can suggest is to remember that after you're healed to get on a good diet and exercise regime. (My father has gained a good portion of the weight back after losing 200lbs.)

Thank you Ariel! I'm going to do everything I can to not let that happen! I've got a great support group that will hunt me down and kill me if I get off track(that is if I don't beat myself up first!). Does your father go to support group meetings at all??? That might help. What kind of surgery did he get done? There are several types. I hate to see anyone gain back what they've worked so hard to lose and gone to such a drastic measures for.

Um... he had the one where they remove part of the stomach and you end up with a space about the size of four thumbs. I don't remember what it was called. I think it was a bypass.

He didn't go to support groups, didn't get any counseling, didn't really change anything. Still sits around, feeling lonely and depressed and eating. ::Shrugs.::

hhhmmm, well I know a certain Bariatric support group coordinator who could whip him into shape if you want. She's in Somerset Medical and her group "Bariatric Angels of America Inc" is open to anyone who's had the surgery, regardless of their surgeon....I can give you more info if you think he'd listen to it.
