Yesterday's ENT visit confirmed that I still have both bacterial and fungal infections going on, and no discernable healing on either eardrum rupture. When I expressed disappointment about this, the ex-ENT sarcastically asked, "Are you always this glum?"
He also asked again about smoking and diabetes (no and no)... which apparently are two factors involved in ongoing otomycosis.
Ever since this thing started, I had a very strong feeling that it was related to the antibiotics I took for a bladder infection a few weeks before. Last night, I came across an article that suggests that
fungal infections following antibiotic treatment can be more resistant to antifungal medications. I feel simultaneously validated and worried and helpless.
I need to find a practitioner of integrative medicine in the Chicago area that I can work with. I've got so many tabs open for so many doctors... my head spins whenever I go back to them. I've reached out to my wonderful KC GP for advice on finding someone here who is like her.
This thing has made me nervous about driving (can't hear things coming from my right side; I have only driven on the freeway maybe two times in the last month), and that combined with the onset of ice and the several weeks of sickness (we all got cases of post-Christmas crud) has made me feel very isolated and lonely. I am constantly asking people to repeat themselves. And today I woke up with an all-new exciting symptom: dizziness.
I just want to curl up with my pens and yarn and Netflix and never move again. Not sure why I'm posting. Just hoping to hear some soothing noises, I suppose.
